Distillery plans to raise €2m through crowdfunding

SLIABH Liag Distillers has announced plans to raise €2 million through crowdfunding to facilitate the latest stage of its product development.

The award-winning company is seeking to boost production capacity amid increased export demand. The additional investment will see production in its plant move to a 24/7 basis, increasing annual output from 440,000 litres to 600,000 litres.

Crowdfunding has been a key feature of the Sliabh Liag model since its establishment.

In 2020 the business raised over €2 million, the fifth biggest food and drink raise on Crowdcube. That money was used to help build the new distillery at Ardara.

In an email to investors Sliabh Liag’s management said it was embarking on a second round of crowdfunding, launching on Monday, June 20.

The €2m target will “fund production expansion and accelerate further brand growth”.

Appealing to the public to buy in to the project, a spokesperson for Sliabh Liag said, “It was always our plan to hold a further crowdfunding raise at this time to give another opportunity to those already invested and open up to others who are new to us or were unable to commit last time for whatever reason.”
