Disappointment for Harps as they lose to Cork

Finn Harps 0-1 Cork City

FOR the third time in two seasons, Cork City won by a goal to nil in Ballybofey, as Garry Buckley’s 70th minute goal helped them defeat Finn Harps tonight.

Harps held strong in the first 20 minutes, but Cork soon started to get on top.

Kieran Sadlier, Gearoid Morrissey, and Jimmy Keohane all went close, but Cork couldn’t find a way through.

Harps goalkeeper Ciaran Gallagher was forced to make two excellent saves after the break, before Mark Timlin squandered a great chance for Ollie Horgan’s team.

Harps enjoyed a good spell before Cork scored in the 70th minute when Garry Buckley bundled to the net after Ryan Delaney’s looping header hit the post.

The home side emjoyed a good spell but then Cork struck for the only goal of the game in the 70th minute.

Ryan Delaney met Beattie’s cross with a good header, and the ball hit the post, but Garry Buckley reacted quickest to score the rebound.

The Harps players were incensed as they felt Gallagher’s hand was kicked by Buckley as he finished to the net, but the goal stood.

Horgan’s men failed to create a chance of note during the remainder of the game and had to settle for defeat.
