Disappointment for Downings in All-Ireland Final

Downings 0-4 Mungret St Paul’s 0-12

There was disappointment for Downings in the All-Ireland Club Junior Final today as they were beaten by a physically dominant Mungret St Paul’s side in Parnell Park.

Mungret were the better team in the first twenty minutes and established a 0-6 to 0-2 lead.

Lauren McBride then saw a goal chance hit the post for Downings but she did kick two frees late in the half.

The Limerick champions  took over again at the start of the second half and notched six points on the trot to move clear.

Downings kept going but to compound a frustrating day, Denise Doherty sent a late penalty wide.

Mungret saw the game out comfortably and Downings’ great journey came to a halt at the final hurdle.
