Donegal 1-13 Kildare 3-12
THE Donegal minors dreams of reaching an All-Ireland final were ended as three Kildare goals made the difference in the All-Ireland Tier Two semi-final in St Tiernach’s Park, Clones.
Donegal began well but were rocked by two early goals from Finn Dowling and Paddy Ryan and found themselves four down after 15 minutes.
That deficit stayed the same at the break at Kildare led by 2-5 to 0-7.
Barry Ward’s men battled back in the second half and a fortunate goal from a Conor McCahill effort brought it back to a point in it with 15 minutes to go.
But when a ’45 dropped short, Ryan got his second goal after a good initial save from Padraig Mac Giolla Bhríde but the rebound hit the roof of the net.
