The Letterkenny Pantomime Society has announced that their eagerly anticipated production of Robin Hood, set for January 2026, will not be going ahead.
In a heartfelt post on social media, the group shared that the decision comes due to circumstances beyond their control.
“We are truly devastated and we know how much this show means to our audiences and community,” the post read.
The annual pantomime is a much-needed source of support for various local sports clubs and organisations, with many nights of the show’s performances dedicated to raising funds.
It is understood that the show has been cancelled due to ongoing refurbishments at An Grianán Theatre.
A spokesperson for the theatre confirmed that the works would be ongoing from December 8 to January 31.
The renovations will see a new creative studio space being built in the upper foyer and a complete redesign of the Box Office which will improve accessibility access and customer service.
“This redesign will ensure frontline customer facilities within the theatre are fully accessible,” the spokesperson said.
During this time the theatre will also have paint work completed in the auditorium to finish those renovation works, as well as upgrades to the dressing rooms and green room.
“We are excited to have these works begin and look forward to welcoming our audience back to a new and improved space as well as having upgraded facilities for our visiting artists,” the spokesperson said.
The Letterkenny Pantomime Society shared how they will be back in 2027, “bigger, brighter and ready to make magic happen again.”
An Grianán Theatre added that they look forward to the Pantomime’s return in the 2027 season.
