WAS Taylor Swift really in Donegal at the weekend?
Known for hits such as ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ and Shake It Off’, the 31-year-old is more used to Los Angeles than Letterkenny.
But social media has been raging with speculation the multi-award winning artist visited Portsalon on Saturday.
Swift, who is said to be worth an estimated $400m, took to Facebook and Instagram to post photographs of herself on what does look uncannily like the popular Donegal beach.
Referring to the first anniversary of the release of her smash hit album Folklore, the megastar wrote, “It’s been one year since we escaped the real world together and imagined ourselves some place simpler.
“With tall trees and salt air. Where you’re allowed to wear lace nightgowns that make you look like a Victorian ghost every day and no one will side-eye you ‘cause no one is around.
“It’s just you and your imaginary cabin and the stories you make up to pass the time.”
Swift signed her post off by saying, “Happy anniversary Folklore.”

Swift responses
The remarks appear to suggest the photos were taken last year but as per usual, it didn’t take long for Donegal’s wit to take over.
“I met her at the mart in Raphoe last Thursday,” wrote one Facebook contributor while another added that they had spotted the singer in the drinks section of Lidl.
Another concerned citizen added, “Hope she put that rubbish in a bin or took it home with her.”
Taylor Swift’s Folklore album broke the Guinness World Record for the highest first-day album streams by a female artist on Spotify.
