Devlin Hall site plans to step up

By Chris Ashmore

LETTERKENNY’S Town Urban Regeneration Team is set to engage closely with Letterkenny Youth Club in relation to ambitious plans to further develop the former Devlin Hall site as part of the regeneration plan for the Lower Main Street area of the town.

This follows a motion on the subject from Councillor Gerry McMonagle who has praised the youth club for its work on transforming what had been a dilapidated hall into an operational youth club.

Members of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council recently got a tour of the facility which could be part of future projects that will attract state funding.

Cathaoirleach of the Council, Cllr Ciaran Brogan said that the building has “huge potential” and has already received €150,000 in funding.

“It would be ideal for the regeneration team to get involved and have a conversation and see what options can be explored. It’s a win, win situation, and there is a great amount of volunteer work,” he told the July meeting.

Concluding, he suggested they could have a workshop on the topic.
