DERRY City have been awarded the three points from their Under-19 Northern Division game with Finn Harps from last week after Harps were found to have played an illegal player in the fixture.
The teams shared a one-all draw at Caratra Park in Culdaff last Wednesday night.
Stephen Mills had given Derry a tenth-minute lead before Darragh Black equalised in the 55th minute to seal a share of the spoils.
However, an investigation by the Football Association of Ireland has found Harps to have played an illegal player and Derry City have been awarded the three points from the game.
It is not believed that Derry City submitted a protest following the game, but an investigation by Under-19 League chiefs has found Harps to be in breach of rule and the Ballybofey side has been sanctioned. Harps may also face being fined by the FAI.
The game was Harps’ last game of the season in the League. Derry have topped the Division and are in the promotion play-off group alongside Dundalk, Mervue United and Limerick FC.
