Derby defeat for Harps

Finn Harps 1-2 Derry City

THERE was no joy for Finn Harps in this evening’s North West derby as they lost out to league leaders, Derry City at a packed Finn Park,

Derry took the lead in the 17th minute when Cameron McJannet headed home from a corner.

Yoyo Mahdy had a chance to equalise, but Derry were on top and went close to adding to their advantage.

There weren’t many chances after the restart but Dave Webster was unlucky not to level matters when Dave Webster hit the crossbar in the 72nd minute.

Derry took a big step towards victory in the 88th minute when Will Patching scored a super free-kick.

Harps didn’t give up and Filip Mihaljevic won and scored a penalty in the 92nd minute.

However, the Candystripes held on to claim all three points.
