Depleted Gaeil Fhánada take on Aodh Ruadh

GAEIL Fhánada will be depleted for their Intermediate quarter-final with Aodh Ruadh as one of their players is getting married.

Fanad’s experienced forward Seamus ‘Coshia’ Friel is set to tie the knot in Spain today (Friday), and is one of seven senior panellists that won’t be available to team manager Aidan McAteer for Sunday’s match.

Frank Sweeney and Mark Friel are other players of note that are away, while Jimmy Coyle is a doubt with injury.

“There’s not much we can do about it,” said McAteer.

“We’ve known the date of the wedding for a long time, and the lads have their flights booked for months. We knew there was a chance that it would clash with the championship.

“It’s nothing really new to us before we haven’t had our full compliment in the championship for any game for one reason or another.

“Last year, we had a full panel for all our games, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes.”
