Delight for Manor residents as long-awaited water works begin

RESIDENTS in the Manorcunningham area who have been plagued by water outages are at last to see an end to their misery.

Households in Raymoghy, Rossbracken, Pluck and Errity’s Brae suffered a large number of water outages and regular interruption to their supply duirng Christmas and the New Year period.

But, their misery has been brought to an end as Uisce Éireann last week started work on the replacement of 3km of damaged water mains. Campaigner for the works, Councillor Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly has praised the commencement of the advanced works.

“I’m delighted for the residents in these areas that this long ongoing issue is now going to be resolved once and for all,” said the Fianna Fáil councillor.

“Since I took my seat I have been contacted by residents on numerous occasions in the past two years. They were very concerned and frustrated and residents were at there wits end with ongoing water bursts and outages.
“What has been going on in these areas was absolutely ridiculous.

“This is absolutely brilliant news for the people concerned. I want to thank the people affected for the patience they have shown. I’m delighted for them all that these ongoing issues will beresolved once and for all.”

The works are currently being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme along the L1154 and L1294 from Pluck through Manorcunningham up to Errity.
