Delegates from across the country in Donegal for Fórsa conference

HUNDREDS of delegates have gathered in Letterkenny this week as Fórsa trade union’s divisional conferences get underway at the Mount Errigal Hotel.

The conferences for the union’s Health and Welfare Division and the Local Government and Local Services Division began on Wednesday and will run until tomorrow (Friday).

Fórsa’s Health and Welfare Division represents over 30,000 workers across hospitals, primary care services, and disability services provided by the community and voluntary sector.

This includes health and social care professionals, as well as clerical, administrative, management, and technical staff.

Meanwhile, the Local Government and Local Services Division represents more than 10,000 workers in local authorities, including clerical, administrative, management, technical, and professional roles.

Fórsa General Secretary Kevin Callinan is expected to address both conferences this afternoon.

Speaking ahead of the conference organisers said they are looking forward to welcoming delegates to Donegal to debate motions important to them.

Today’s Health and Welfare agenda includes a panel discussion and debate on the growing issue of low morale among healthcare workers at all levels.

The conference will also feature a panel discussion and motions for debate about the safe use of Artificial Intelligence.

The Local Government and Local Services conference will feature a series of presentations on Thursday, including a panel discussion on libraries and the far right, and the role of local authorities in promoting community and social integration.
