Delays to new safety partnership raise concerns amidst rise in violent incidents against women

THE delay in rolling out the new community safety partnership in Donegal has been branded as “hugely concerning”, given the recent sexually motivated attacks against women in Letterkenny and the north west.

Donegal Joint Policing Committee was disbanded earlier this year, prior to the local government elections, to make way for the establishment of Local Community Safety Partnerships (LCSPs).

Last month, Minister for Justice Helen McEntee announced the appointment of chairpersons to the first seven LCSPs being established across the country.

But Donegal was not included in that roll out.
