Defendant said Gardaí were ‘crooked b–tards’

A MAN who was being charged while in custody told the arresting Garda that all Gardaí in Letterkenny and Buncrana were “crooked b–tards”.

Seamus Cooley, with a current address at Castlerea Prison, appeared at Monday’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court.
He is charged with assaulting a Garda at St Jude’s Court, Lifford, on May 23, 2023.

When arresting and cautioning Cooley at Letterkenny Courthouse, Garda Pauline Doherty told the court that he had refused to accept a copy of the charge sheet when she presented it to him.
He then began shouting and claimed that all Gardaí in Letterkenny and Buncrana were “crooked bastards”.
