Donegal 1-13 Tyrone 1-15
THERE was disappointment for the Donegal minor footballers as they lost by two points against Tyrone in today’s Jim McGuigan Cup Final.
Tyrone were excellent in the first half and were seven points ahead at one stage before Donegal battled back.
HT: Donegal 0-6 Tyrone 0-9
Joseph Gibbons hit three points early in the second half and Donegal moved 1-8 to 0-10 in front when Thomas Lenehan scored a goal.
However, Tyrone kept battling and a fortuitous three-pointer from Cathal Farley left them 1-14 to 1-11 ahead after 46 minutes.
Lenehan and Shane Sweeney replied with points before Eoin Long pushed Tyrone two ahead again.
Donegal had plenty of chances late on but didn’t take them, and they now have to turn their focus to the Ulster Minor Championship in a fortnight’s time.
