He will be fondly remembered as one of the county’s most talented singers having been a leading member of the St. Eunan’s Cathedral choir for a long number of years.

His rendition of the Christmas classic, ‘Oh Holy Night’ has become legendary and congregations looked forward every year to hearing Dan perform the song from the altar at St. Eunan’s Cathedral. It made Christmas that bit more special for everyone.

His death will be met with deep sadness by all who knew him, particularly those with whom he sang in choirs and concerts over a quite brilliant musical career.

Originally from Main Street in Letterkenny, Dan was involved in a host of community groups and activities during his lifetime. He was a talented footballer and played with Letterenny Rovers in the old Summer Cups. He always maintained a deep love for sport.

He worked for many years as a rep with Jacob’s Biscuits and through his work, made many connections and friends all over Donegal.

He celebrated his 90th birthday in November 2023 and last December, the McTeague family featured in the pages of the Donegal News as Dan’s beloved wife Bernie turned 90.
