Decision due this week on Creeslough supermarket plan

A DECISION on planning permission for a proposed new supermarket and petrol station in Creeslough is expected on Wednesday.

The proposed development has been listed for decision on Wednesday on Donegal County Council’s online planning portal.

A decision had initially been expected on June 12, 2024 but had been delayed after planners sought ‘further information’ from the applicant, Vivo Shell Limited.

A total of 31 submissions were made to Donegal County Council objecting to the development, where ten people died in a tragic explosion on October 7, 2022. Many others were injured.

Vivo Shell Limited first lodged plans in April 2024 for the demolition of the existing building and the erection of a new building to comprise a class 1 commercial building, a shop, a post office, off licence, store and deli.

The proposed plans also include toilets, including accessible toilets, staff welfare facilities, forecourt, replacement of underground storage tanks and pumps, external canopy, associated signage and all other associated site development works including a space for a memorial garden at the location.
