Vera Owens, Letterkenny

The peaceful death has occurred of Vera Owens, 41 McNeely Villas, Oldtown, Letterkenny,  under the exceptional care of the staff in St Eunan’s Nursing Home, Letterkenny.

Sadly missed by her loving husband, Terry, devoted mother to Tara, Kerri (Matthew). 

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, Johnny, Patrick and family, neighbours and good friends.

Vera was pre-deceased by her sons, Barry and Terence, brother, Nelis, sisters, Bobby and Mary-Frances, and her parents, Nelis and Shelia Doherty.

Vera will be reposing at her late residence from 12 noon – 10pm on Tuesday with Rosary at 9pm. 

Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11am in St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny, with burial afterwards in Leck Cemetery.

Family time on the morning of the funeral, please with family flowers only, with donations in lieu if desired to the Donegal Hospice, c/o any family member or Con McDaid Funeral Directors.

Charles Sheeran, Mountcharles

The death has occurred of Charles Sheeran, Stonepark, Mountcharles, peacefully.

Greatly missed by his family, David, John and Catherine, and large extended family. 

Predeceased by his wife, Catherine, parents, John and Matilda, and his brothers and sister.  

Remains reposing at his late residence. 

Funeral Mass on Thursday in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Mountcharles at 11am, with burial afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.

House private to family only please.

Tommy Lynch, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Tommy Lynch, 46 Ernedale Heights, Ballyshannon and formerly of Ballylongford, Co. Kerry.

He passed away peacefully on Monday in the gentle and exceptional care of the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Ballyshannon Community Hospital. 

Beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Dolan), Tommy will be sadly missed by his children, Ciarán and Sinéad, daughter-in-law, Tara, son-in-law, Jason, his grandchildren, Evan, Oran, Anna and Ronan, brother, Michael (New York), sisters-in-law, Norann Lynch and Anna Dolan, brothers-in-law, Eddie Mangan, Martin and Eugene Dolan, nephews, nieces, close relatives and friends. 

Predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Lynch, his brothers, John and Donal and sister, Mary B and the deceased members of the Lynch and Dolan families.

Funeral arrangements to be announced later. 

Family flowers only. Donations, if so desired, in lieu of flowers to the Patient Comfort Fund at Ballyshannon Community Hospital, c/o Patrick McKenna Funeral Directors, Ballyshannon or any family member. 

John Edward Coyle, Bunbeg

The death has taken place at the Donegal Hospice of John Edward Coyle, An Draighean, Bunbeg and formerly of Glasgow. 

Predeceased by his parents, Bridget and Manus. Sadly missed by his wife, Ann, daughters, Caitlín, Treasa and Róisín, son-in-law, Michael, sisters, Bríd, Winnie, Madge, Ann-Marie and Maureen, brothers, Pata, Joe, Eddie, Jim and Paul and extended family and friends. 

His remains will repose at his home (F92 TX49) on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am – 8pm. Rosary nightly at 8pm.

House private after rosary and on the morning of the funeral.

John’s funeral Mass will take place on Thursday at 11am in St. Patrick’s Church, Meenaweal with interment afterwards in Magheragallon Cemetery.

There will be a one way system in operation to the wake house, enter at the old chemist and exit on the factory road.

 

Peter Paul Ward, Burtonport

The death has occurred in the Donegal Hospice of Peter Paul Ward, Burtonport.

Peter’s remains will be reposing in McGlynn’s Funeral Home, Dungloe on Tuesday from 3pm with rosary at 8pm.

Removal afterwards to St. Columba’s Church, Acres to repose overnight.

Funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 20 at 11am with interment afterwards in Belcruit Cemetery.

 

Dorothy McElhinney, Letterkenny

The death has occurred in Letterkenny University Hospital of Dorothy McElhinney (née McDaid), formerly of Dr. McGinley Villas and 18 Windmill View, Letterkenny.

Sadly missed by her loving daughters, Melissa (Patrick), Siobhan (Martin) and Sinéad.

Sadly missed by her sister, Eileen Crerand and brothers, Jimmy and Noel (Angela) McDaid.

Devoted granny to her grandchildren Annie, Eddie, Memphis, Ownie, Charlotte, T.J and Amelia, nieces, nephews, wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

Pre-deceased by her husband, Eddie McElhinney, mother, Margaret McDaid (née Dobson), father, James McDaid, brother-in-law, Edward Crerand and sister-in-law Mary McDaid.

Reposing at her daughter Siobhan’s residence at 4 Gartan Avenue, Iona Road, Letterkenny, F92 F2AV.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 11am in St. Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny, with burial afterwards in Leck Cemetery.

Mary Teresa (Mamie) Mc Laughlin (née Catterson), Castlefin

The death has taken place at her home of Mary Teresa (Mamie) McLaughlin (née Catterson), Drumnahaw, Castlefin and formerly of Owenreagh Drive, Strabane.

Beloved wife of Michael, much loved mother of Gerard, Catriona, Sinead, Michelle, Theresa and Cecelia and sister of Noeleen and the late Margaret and John.

Remains reposed at Quigley`s Funeral Home, Strabane on Sunday.

Reposing at her daughter Catriona’s home, Drumnahaw, Castlefin on Monday (August 18) from 12 noon.

Funeral leaving her daughter’s home on Wednesday at 11.15am for Requiem Mass in St Columba’s Church, Doneyloop at 12 noon.

Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband, son, daughters, sister, grandchildren, family circle and friends.

House private please to family, friends and neighbours.

Margaret Flood (née Caldwell), Ballyshannon

The death has taken place of Margaret Flood (née Caldwell), The Rock, Ballyshannon, F94 CK74 and formerly of Donegal Town.

She died peacefully on Sunday in Sligo University Hospital after a long illness.

Margaret is sadly missed by her children, Siobhan, Tracey, Marina, Claire, Celine and Nuala, her sons-in-law, Patrick, Liam and Joe, her sister, Celene (Danny), her brothers, Tommie (Brid RIP), Conor (Charlotte) and Kevin (Eileen); her 17 adored grandchildren Katie, Ruth, Aoibhinn, Caolan, Dearbhla, Tiernan, Diarmuid, Eimear, Beth, Darragh, Ciara, Mollie, Eve, Aoife, Tom, Grace and Jack and her great-granddaughter Roisin, and her great friend and sister-in-law Betty.

Predeceased by her parents, Tom and Teresa, and her siblings, Seamus (Maura), Mena (Liam), Gerry (Philomena) and Brendan.

Reposing at her late residence on Monday and Tuesday from 2pm – 8pm.

Funeral to arrive at St. Joseph’s Church, The Rock, Ballyshannon on Wednesday for Mass of Resurrection at 11am with service of Cremation in Lakeland’s Crematorium, Cavan at 4pm.

Donations, if so desired, in lieu of flowers to SHOUT Oncology Unit at Sligo University Hospital c/o Patrick McKenna Funeral Directors, Ballyshannon or any family member.

House strictly private outside of reposing times.

Masie Connaghan (née O’Donnel), Churchill

The death has occurred, peacefully surrounded by her loving family, of Masie Connaghan, Churchill.

Predeceased by husband, John and daughter, Margaret. Survived by sons, Martin, Frankie, Gerard, Christy and Kevin, daughter, Philomena. Deeply regretted by her extended family members, neighbours and many friends.

Masie’s remains are reposing at the residence of her daughter Philomena, 33 Glencar Park, Letterkenny F92F6CA.

Funeral from there on Tuesday morning for requiem Mass in St. Colmcille’s Church, Glendowan at 11am, followed by interment in Gartan Cemetery.

Bridie Kernan (née Dawson), Newtowncunningham

The death has occurred of Bridie Kernan (née Dawson) Newtowncunningham, and formerly of Mount Southwell, Letterkenny.

Bridie will be sadly missed by her loving husband Seamus, her daughter Adrienne (predeceased by Adriano), her sons Anthony (Breid), Barry (Rosaleen), and Mark (Annette), and her daughter Maria (Vincent).

She will be fondly remembered by her cherished grandchildren, Lucca, Francesca, Laura, James, Jessica, Daniella, Owen, Olivia, Peter, Christian and Daniela.

Bridie’s remains will repose at the family home until removal to All Saints Church, Newtowncunningham, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon on Tuesday.

House private to family only, at the request of the deceased.
