Stephen Patterson, Letterkenny

The death has occurred at University Hospital Galway of Stephen Patterson, 17 Ashbrook, Letterkenny F92 XPR8, formerly Clonmass, Portnablagh. 

Stephen will be deeply missed by his son, Adrian, daughters-in-law, Catriona and Moira, granddaughters, Nessa and Oonagh, brother, Henry (Anne) brothers-in-law, J.P. and George (Maria), sisters-in-law, Susan and Anne (Chris), nieces, nephews and friends. 

Stephen is predeceased by his wife, Kathleen and son, Ciarán.  

His remains will be reposing at his late residence in Ashbrook on Thursday from 12 noon. 

Funeral Mass in St. Eunans Cathedral, Letterkenny on Friday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in Fanavolty Cemetery, Kindrum, Fanad

Siobhan McBrearty, Churchtown, Kilcar

The peaceful death has occurred at the Donegal Hospice of Siobhan McBrearty (née Gillespie), Churchtown, Kilcar, surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. 

Predeceased by her husband, Con. Sadly missed by her children, Mary and Peter (Churchtown), Sean and Fiona (Letterkenny), Susie and Joe (Gaoth Dobhair), Martina (Letterkenny), Gerry (Letterkenny), Paul and Mary (Ballina), Donal and Annette (Carrick), Jacinta (Letterkenny) and Una and Vincent (Claregalway). 

Fondly remembered by her much loved 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends.  

Reposing at her family home in Churchtown Kilcar (F94TW93) on Thursday and Friday from 12 noon until the Rosary at 9pm each day. House strictly private at all other times and on the morning of the funeral. 

A shuttle bus will be in operation from the Aislann car park during wake times. 

Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday at 11am in St. Cartha’s Church, Kilcar (F94KA07) followed by burial in the local cemetery. 

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu if desired to Carrick Day Care Centre, care of any family member or McShane Funeral Directors.  

Denis Gallagher, Dublin and formerly Stranorlar

The death has taken place of Denis Gallagher, Dublin and formerly of Stranorlar.

Predeceased by his parents, Jack and Nora and his sister, Fidelma. 

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his beloved family; his wife, Colette, his daughter, Lynn and his son, John, his son-in-law, Matt and his daughter-in-law, Deirdre, his much loved grandchildren, Sean, Mairéad, Aoife, Niamh, Eimear, Aoibheann, Roisín, Katie and Johnny, his sisters, Slyvia, Yvonne and Terri, his brothers, Andrew, Gerard and Paul, his extended family and friends.  

Reposing overnight at St. Mary’s Church, Stranorar from 7pm on Thursday.

Funeral Mass there on Friday at 11am followed by burial in the Old Graveyard, Stranorlar.

Sean Doherty, Malin

The death has taken place at his home of Sean Doherty (John Ned), Ballysalla, Culkeeny, Malin F93 V2T6. 

Beloved husband of Ann and much loved father of Gary (Bernadette), Michelle, Pamela (Ciaran), Deborah (Conor) and Ciaran. 

Devoted grandfather of Liam, Chloe, Max, Aoife, Shannan, Shaun, Lily, Clara, Lorcan and Ava. 

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sisters, Mary, Betty, Sadie and Hannah, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, wider family circle, friends and neighbours.  

Sean’s remains are reposing at his home where everyone is welcome to pay their respects. 

Funeral from there on Friday at 11.15am for 12pm Requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Aughaclay, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Oliver Lockhart, Letterkenny

The peaceful death has taken place of Oliver Lockhart, 87 Ard O’Donnell, Letterkenny .

Beloved husband of Sadie (née Coyle), and much loved father of Sarah and Anne Marie.

Deeply regretted by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by his parents, William and Frances, his brother, PJ and sister, Jean (Russell).

Remains reposed at the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest on Wednesday evening.

House private to family, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Mass will take place in  St Eunans Cathedral on Friday at 2pm, followed by burial in Umlagh Graveyard, Carrigart.

Family flowers only, donations in lieu to the neonatal unit Letterkenny if desired.

Sheila Cunningham, Killybegs

The death has occurred of Sheila Cunningham, Riverdale Heights, Killybegs, peacefully, surrounded by family, in the devoted care of Aras Mhic Shuibhne. 

Predeceased by her husband, Willie. Sadly missed by her daughter, Finula (Paul), sons, Barry (Ashley) and Peter (Margaret), grandchildren, Eimear, Evin, Glen and Vince, sister, Joan, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  

Reposing at her residence on Thursday from 12 noon to 9pm. 

Removal on Friday at 10.30am to St Mary of the Visitation Church, Killybegs for 11am funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in the local cemetery. 

House private on the morning of the funeral please.

Francis Cunningham, Killybegs

The death has occurred of Francis Cunningham, Aughavogue, Killybegs. 

Remains reposing at his home. 

A celebration of Francis’ life will take place on Thursday at 12 noon in the Bride Christian Fellowship, Bruckless, F94K263.  Burial afterwards in Kellybegs Cemetery.

Cherished and will be missed by wife Mary Bridget (Mulreany), children John (Elysia), Shirley (Garrett), Clement (Cathy), Elizabeth (Declan) and Joseph, grandchildren Morgan, Rachel, Matthew, Calum, Sarah-Kate, Ben, Joshua and Benjamin.

Predeceased by his mother Sarah Cunningham and father Johnny Cunningham. Predeceased by Michael, Sean, Vincent, Columba.

Fondly remembered by Mary, Angela, Margaret, Una, Leonard and Ann.

Margaret McDonagh (née Doherty), Dungloe

The peaceful death has taken place of Margaret McDonagh, (née Doherty) Meenmore, Dungloe.

She is predeceased by her husband Frank and daughter Una Cotter.

Sadly missed by her sons Thomas (Marian), Seamus (Carol), Francis (Christina), daughter Mary (Shaun), son in law Dave and grandchildren Christina, Fran, Stephen, Owen, Dylan, Daragh, Declan Katie, Leah, Shauna, Evan, Orla, Conor, Megan, and her seven great grandchildren.

Funeral on Thursday, August 14 at 1pm with interment afterwards in Dungloe Cemetery.

House private on the morning of the funeral. Family flowers only, donations in lieu to Dungloe Hospital patients comfort fund. 

Betty McElhinney, Donegal Town

The death has occurred of Betty McElhinney, Cully, Donegal Town, peacefully at Sligo University Hospital.

Predeceased by her loving husband Tommy, son George, brother Freddie and sister Mabel.

Sadly missed by her sons and daughters in law, Tommy (Linda) and William (Eileen), granddaughter Janet (John), great granddaughters Eva and Cora and sister Gina.

Reposing at her son Tommy’s residence Golard, Laghey F94 EY28.

Removal from there at 1.30pm on Thursday to Rathneeny Presbyterian Church for funeral service at 2pm, followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Peggy Gallagher, Falcarragh

The death has taken place at the Donegal Hospice of Peggy Gallagher, Mount Carmel, Meenderry, Falcarragh, formerly of Roshine, Dunfanaghy.

Predeceased by her husband, Joe, sisters, Mary and Agnes and brothers, Timmy and Mickey. Sadly missed by her sons, John Joe (Rosaleen), Seamus (Mary) and Paul, daughters, Margaret. Rosealeen and Patricia (Hugo), sisters, Patricia and Catherine, grandchildren, Cillian, Dainne, Roisín, Shauna, Tia, Molly, Sophie, Olivia and Malachy and extended family and friends.

House private to family on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday at 12 noon in St. Finian’s Church, Falcarragh with interment afterwards in the adjacent cemetery.

Laurence Sweeney, Shannon, Co. Clare and Ballybofey

The death has occurred of Laurence Sweeney, Coill Mhara, Shannon, Clare and Ballybofey, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Deeply missed by his heartbroken family, wife, Kathleen, children, Catherine, Larry, Edwin and Adeline, granddaughter, Erin, Larry’s partner Sylvia, brothers, Brian and Liam, sisters, Anne and Eileen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and his many friends.

Laurence will repose in Mc Mahon’s Funeral Home, Shannon on Wednesday from 6pm to 7.30pm, arriving for funeral Mass in St. John and Paul Church, Shannon on Thursday at 11am followed by burial in Illaunmanagh Cemetery.

House strictly private. Donations if desired to Clare Care.
