Terry Ponsonby, St. Johnston and Letterkenny

The sudden death has taken place in Spain of Terry Ponsonby, Ryelands House, Lismoghry, St. Johnston, F93 H3F8 and proprietor of Friars Rest, Letterkenny. 

Deeply missed by his loving wife Perpetua (Pep), son, Mark and partner, Rosarie, daughter, Davina and husband, Stephen, adoring grandchildren, Rosa, Theo, Terry, Mark and Grace, brother, Don, sisters, Carmel and Anius, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, staff at Friars Rest and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours. 

Terry is predeceased by his parents, Terry and Molly and brothers, Paul and Ted.

Terry’s remains will be reposing at his late residence on Sunday, May 25 and Monday, May 26 from 12 noon until 10pm with rosary both nights at 9pm. 

Requiem Mass on Tuesday, May 27 at 11am at St. Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny which can be viewed live on www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny

Interment afterwards in New Leck Cemetery. 

House private on the morning of the funeral please.

Ciarán Gillen, Carndonagh

The sudden death has taken place of Ciarán Gillen, Church Road, Carndonagh, at his home in Dublin. 

Predeceased by his father, Patsy. 

Sadly missed by his mother, Mary, his brother, Colm (Roísín), his sisters, Dympna (Gene), Gráinne (Finbarr), Maeve (Keith), his nieces and nephews, Eimear, Eoghan, Seán, Blaíthín and Daríona. 

Ciarán’s remains will arrive at the Muff border at approximately 8pm on Monday evening (May 26) to continue to the family home at Church Road, Carndonagh, where everyone is welcome to pay their respects until 10pm and on Tuesday from 1pm to 9pm. 

Funeral from there on Wednesday (May 28) at 11.30am for 12pm funeral Mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Carndonagh followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard. 

The family home is private on the morning of the funeral.

Patrick (Pat) Sweeney, Dublin and Loughanure

The death has occurred of Patrick (Pat) Sweeney, New Ireland Road, Rialto, Dublin and formerly of Loughanure.

Mr Sweeney passed away in the wonderful care of staff at St James’s Hospital with his son by his side on Tuesday, May 20.

Beloved husband of the late Carmel and loving father of Phil; sadly missed by his loving son, sisters, Vicky and Anne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at the Brian McElroy Funeral Home, Crumlin Village on Sunday from 1pm to 3pm.

Funeral Mass on Monday at 11am in the Church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Fatima, Rialto followed by cremation in the Garden Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium arriving for approximately 12.45pm.

Cherie Kelly, Castlefin

The death has occurred of Cherie Kelly (nee Patton), 345 Grahamsland, Castlefin, F93 YDDX.

She died peacefully in the care of the staff of Letterkenny University Hospital and surrounded by her loving family. 

Predeceased by father, Joe, mother, Eileen, loving partner, Martin, brother, Billy and baby sister, Maria Goretti. 

Deeply regretted by her loving daughters, Gleanoir (Mick), Joanne (Dave) and Olivia (Philip), their father, John and grandchildren, Onagh, Dylan and Daniel.

Fondly remembered by brothers, Michael, Benny, Leo and Damien, sisters, Phyllis, Nettie and Margo and her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Castlefin on Sunday, May 25 at 2pm, Interment in St.Patrick’s Churchyard, Murlog.  

Donations in lieu if so desired to Asthma Society of Ireland, care of any family member.
