Michael McGinley, Dublin and Dunfanaghy

The death has taken place of Michael McGinley, Rathfarnham, Dublin and formerly of Dunfanaghy.

He died peacefully at home on Sunday, in the loving care of his family.

Beloved husband of the late Julia (née Sheridan) and loving father of Paul, Mary, Karen, Michael and Suzanne.

Michael will be sadly missed by his family and in-laws, his grandchildren, Niamh, Killian and Maia, Niall, James, Meabh and Michael, Sean, Luke and Liam, his sisters, Marette and Kathleen, (predeceased by his brother, Brian and sister, Betty), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  

Reposing at Fanagans Funeral Home, Willbrook, Rathfarnham (D14 WO29) on Thursday, January 1 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. 

Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, January 2 at 1pm in Church of the Annunciation, Rathfarnham (D14 E803) followed by burial in Kilmashogue Cemetery.

Rhona Coady, Buncrana

The death has occurred at the Donegal Hospice of Rhona Coady (née Murphy), 43 Oakfield Close, Buncrana F93D6K7 and formerly St. Columba’s Avenue, Buncrana and Poles, Co. Cavan. 

Beloved wife of Barry and cherished mother of Emily, Sophie, Elsa and Ben.

Much loved sister of Denyse, Derek and Ruth Jackson (Séan).

Predeceased by her parents, Brigid and Frankie Murphy and stepdad, Peter Gurrie.

Deeply mourned and will be forever missed by her loving husband, son, daughters, brother, sisters, her wider family circle and friends in Cavan and Longford.  

Rhona’s remains will be reposing at her home on Monday from 12 noon where you are all welcome to pay your respects.

Removal from her home on Wednesday at 9.15am to St. Mary’s Oratory, Buncrana for Requiem Mass at 10am followed by interment in St. Mary’s Graveyard, Cockhill.

Máire Coll, Crolly

The death has taken place at her home of Máire Coll (Máire Hannah), Meenaweal, Crolly.

Predeceased by her parents; Hannah and Billie, brother,Jimmy and sisters, Maggie and Annie.

Sadly missed by her sisters, Rosie McFeeley and Sarah McGee, in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Her remains will repose at her home on Sunday and Monday from 12 noon to 8pm. Rosary nightly at 8pm. House private after rosary and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at 11am in St. Patrick’s Church, Meenaweal, with burial afterwards in Magheragallon Cemetery.

Patricia Slowey, Ardara and formerly Longford

The peaceful death occurred on Sunday in the Donegal Hospice of Patricia Slowey (née Devlin), Tullycleave, Ardara and formerly Longford Town.

Loved and forever missed by her husband, Terence, her children, Yvonne (Matt), Jennifer (Owen) and Kelvin (Nicole), her grandchildren, Lucy, Evelyn and Callum who she cherished dearly.

Sadly missed by her sisters, Teresa, Catherine and Margaret, her brothers, Michael and Christy, her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, Paddy and Margaret Devlin, and sister, Angela. 

Patricia’s remains will repose at Shovlin’s Funeral Home, Sandfield, Ardara on Sunday,  28 from 6pm to 9pm and on Monday from 12 noon to 8pm.

Funeral home private on the morning of the funeral.

Removal from there on Tuesday  to the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara, for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Sandra Miller, Carndonagh

The peaceful death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, of Sandra Miller (Olly), Carrick Brae, Carndonagh.

Cherished daughter of Madeline Doherty and Coleman Olly (RIP).

Beloved wife of Kevin and much-loved mother of Lauren and Stephen.

Dear sister of Anne Marie (Gerard), Alan (Yvonne), Tara (Oliver), Owen (Colleen), and Shaun (Codie).

Deeply regretted by her mother-in-law, Roselle, her brother-in-law, Jason, her nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Sandra’s remains are reposing at her home (F93YWO3) where all are welcome to pay their respects.

Removal from there on Monday morning at 10.30am going to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Carndonagh for 11am Requiem Mass followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

The death has occurred of Michael Murphy, Templemoyle, Culdaff and formerly of Achill Island, peacefully at Letterkenny University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of Breege and much loved father of Michelle (Hugh), Christopher, Paul (Stephanie) and Emma (Craig).

Devoted granda of Lewis, Quinn, Regan, Zevagh, Nora, Ellie, Maggie, Annie and Freddie.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sisters and brothers, Patricia (RIP), Mary (RIP), John, Eileen and Ann Marie, nieces and nephews, wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

Michael’s remains are reposing at his home (F93 Y7W3).

Funeral from there on Tuesday, December 30 at 11.30am for 12pm Requiem Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Aughaclay, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Dorothy Devaney, Fanad

The death has occurred of Dorothy Devaney, Ballyheirnan, Fanad and formerly Manchester, peacefully at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Predeceased by her husband, John (2009), sister, Joyce Wilde and brother-in-law, Frank Wilde.

Deeply regretted by Sean and Teresa, her extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Dorothy’s remains will repose at the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny (F92XE35) on Sunday from 5pm to 7pm.

At the request of the deceased, a private cremation will take place.

On Saturday, January 3 at 1pm a Service of Thanksgiving will take place at Christ the Redeemer Church, Rossnakill, with burial of ashes afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

Eileen McClafferty, Letterkenny and Downings

The death occurred on Saturday of Eileen McClafferty (Barry), Letterkenny and Downings.

Much loved mum to Kayleigh, Ryan and Aaron. A beloved nanny to Theo.

Predeceased by her father, Andy.

Deeply regretted by her mum, Ann and her brothers, Andrew, Eamonn, John, Paul and Kieran.

She will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, aunties and uncles, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at her brother’s residence at Cnoc na Muirleog, Downings, F92 YY74, on Tuesday, December 30 from 12 noon until 10pm. Rosary at 9pm. Family time only from 10pm.

A shuttle bus service will be running from the Downings GAA Centre from 3pm to 10pm.

Family time on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Carrigart on Wednesday at 11am with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

No flowers please, with donations in lieu if desired, to Crumlin Children’s Hospital. 

Jimmy McGuire, Raphoe

The sudden death has occurred in Letterkenny University Hospital of Jimmy McGuire, 23 Meadow Hill, Raphoe.

Lovingly missed by his wife, Barbara, sons and daughters, Thomas (Anna), Gemma (Stephen), Joanne (Declan), Lisa, Shaun, and Leona (Jonny), his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchild, sister Mary McGuire and all his extended family, and friends.

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Hanna and his daughter-in-law, Karen. 

Jimmy will repose at his daughter, Lisa McGuire’s residence, 28 Cathedral Hill, Raphoe, F93 W7K6 on Sunday from until 9pm.  

Everyone is welcome to the wake. The family home, 23 Meadow hill, Raphoe is private to family only please.

The funeral cortege will leave his daughter’s residence on Monday at 10.30am, proceeding via the Diamond to St. Eunan’s Church, Raphoe, for 11am Requiem Mass, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Sharpe, Portnoo

The death has taken place of Mary (Mamie) Sharpe, Loughfad, Portnoo F94D8P5, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband, Hugh.

Mamie will be sadly missed by her son, Joseph, daughters, Pauline, Geraldine, Sally, Evelyn, Sheila , Noelle and Fiona, sons-in-law, her brother, Michael, her 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and all her relatives, neighbours and friends.

Her remains are reposing at her residence. Funeral from there on Monday at 10.30am to St Conal’s Church, Kilclooney for 11am requiem Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. 

Family time on Monday morning please.

There will be a one way system in operation to the wake house with entry at Clooney and exit at Kilclooney Chapel.

Emer Kearns, Wicklow and Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Emer Kearns, née MacMahon, Rose Barronstown, Grangecon, Co Wicklow and formerly Ballyshannon, peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Gérard and her two sons, Raymond and David. Emer will be sadly missed by her daughters, Deirdre and Barbara, grandchildren, Raymond, Molly, Sam, Éabha and Eoin, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her residence (W91 P2Y1) on Sunday, December 28 until 8pm, prayers at 8pm. Removal on Monday morning, to arrive at Newlands Cross crematorium (D24 K1CY) for 12.30pm. All are welcome to attend.

 

Marian McDaid, Inch Island

The death has occurred at the Donegal Hospice of Marian McDaid, née Harrigan, Glack, Inch Island.

Beloved wife of Charley. Cherished mother of Tina Porter (Michael), Fiona Henry (Darragh), Cathal (Francesca) and Martin (Claire). Dear sister of Lawrence, Frank, Malachy, Gerard and Annette.

Deeply regretted and will be forever missed by her loving husband, sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sister, brothers, extended family, friends and neighbours. 

Marian’s remains will be reposing at her home.

The wake is strictly private at the request of the deceased.  

Removal from her home on Monday afternoon, December 29 at 12.15pm going to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Inch Island for Requiem Mass at 1pm followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard.

Peggy McLaughlin, Buncrana

The death has taken place in Buncrana Community Hospital of Peggy McLaughlin, Mill Brae, Buncrana.

Beloved wife of the late Charlie McLaughlin and dear mother of Una, John (Marina), Hugo, George (Carmel RIP), Carl (Sandra), Sinead (Terry), Michael, Oran (Caroline), and Keelan (Diane).

Sadly missed by her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family circle, and friends.

Remains reposing at her residence where you are welcome to pay your respects.

Funeral from there on Monday, December 29, at 9.30am going to St Mary’s Oratory, Buncrana, for 10am Requiem Mass, with burial afterwards in Cockhill Cemetery.

Fiona Kennedy, Glenswilly

The death has occurred of Fiona Elizabeth Anne Kennedy, (née Robinson), Sand Stone House, Tullyhoner, Breenagh, Glenswilly / Termon, peacefully at home. 

Predeceased by siblings, Eddie, John, Gerry, Pat and Evelyn. 

Devoted wife to husband Ray. Devoted mother to sons, John and wife Michelle (England), Chris and wife Tina (England), daughter Dee and husband Edward (Dunfanaghy). Fondly remembered by her 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, siblings, Maureen, Tony, Jean and Paul, extended family members, neighbours and friends.  

Fiona’s remains will repose in Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny (F92 XE35) on Monday evening, December 29 from 5.30pm – 7pm. Family and friends welcome. 

Funeral Mass in St Columba’s Church, Glenswilly on Tuesday, December 30 at 11am followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Co. Cavan at 3.30pm.

Family home is strictly private please.  

Charles Solan, Dublin and formerly Dungloe

The death has taken place of Charles Solan (Charlie), Tallaght, Dublin and formerly of Dungloe.

He died on Sunday, December 21, peacefully at Tallaght Hospital, following a long illness, with his loving family by his side. 

Beloved husband and best friend of Mary Frances and loving dad to Brian, David, Sandra, Michael, Shane, Josh and Katie. 

Charlie will be forever loved and always remembered by his family, brothers, Roger and John, his much loved and cherished grandchildren, Isobel, Emma, Seán, Max, Mae, Mylo and Tadhg, extended family, friends and wonderful neighbours and his four-legged friend Ruby. 

Reposing in his home on Sunday from 5pm until 7pm. 

Funeral Mass will take place on Monday at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, Killinarden, Tallaght, following onto Newlands Cross Crematorium. 

Family flowers only. Donations if desired to Tymon North Nursing Home.   

Peter Gilmartin, Cork and Bundoran

The death has occurred of Peter Gilmartin, Monkstown, Cork and formerly of Bundoran.

He died on Saturday, December 20, peacefully in the presence of his sister, Dympna and in the tender care of the wonderful staff at Marymount.

Peter, beloved partner of the late Eileen and dear brother of Dympna and Bernadine. Sadly missed by his loving sisters, brother-in-law, Colin, nephews, Mark and Steven and their families, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at Forde’s Funeral Home, Old Waterpark, Carrigaline on Monday, December 29 from 1pm until 2pm, followed by cremation at The Island Crematorium at 3pm.

No flowers please donations if desired to Marymount.

Memorial Mass and burial of ashes will take place in Bundoran at a date to be confirmed.
