Veronica McShea, Ballintra and Drumoghill

The death has occurred of Veronica McShea, (née O’Brien), Glasbolie, Ballintra (F94 XD25) and formerly of Drumoghill.

Veronica died peacefully, after a short illness fought bravely with great dignity and humour, at Sligo University Hospital in the presence of her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents Mary Ellen and Patrick O’Brien, her brothers, PJ and Tony and by her sister, Molly Doyle.

Dearly loved wife of Patsy and devoted mother to Liam, Deirdre, Ciara, Emer and Ronan, her daughters-in-law Catherine and Sarah, son-in-law Brendan Hoey, her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends.

Survived by her family and by her brother, Phonsie O’Brien and sister-in-law Nellie O’Brien.

Reposing at her home in Glasbolie on Saturday from 12pm until 2pm and 5pm until Rosary at 9pm.

Removal on Sunday to St Brigid’s Church, Ballintra or 1pm funeral Mass followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

House strictly private to family and close friends on Sunday morning please.

Carl Ryan,  Buncrana and Dublin

The unexpected death has taken place of Carl Ryan, Buncrana and formerly of Ballyfermot, Dublin.

Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Teresa, and his brother Arthur.

Carl will be very sadly missed by his loving partner Jackie, sons Carl and Dean, daughters Lisa, Shannon, Linda, Sandra, Lynn and Jodie, daughter-in-law Trisha, son-in-law Mark, his adored grandchildren, brother Darren, sister Anna, Gina and Sylvia, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Tom Munnelly, Cranford

The death has taken place of Tom Munnelly, Coole, Cranford,, formerly Crossmolina, Co. Mayo and Philadelphia, USA.

Deeply regretted by his loving family, wife Mary, daughter Kathleen, son-in-law Roger, grandsons Liam and Declan, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Predeceased by his brothers Philip and Francis and his sister Nan.

Reposing at his home from 12 noon on Saturday, December 28.

Funeral Mass on Monday, December 30 at 11am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coole. Burial afterwards in Milford Cemetery.

Teresa Gallagher, Creeslough

The death has occurred peacefully at her home of Teresa Gallagher (née Langan), Massinass, Creeslough.

Much loved mother, and will be sadly missed.

Her remains are reposing at her home (F92 Y3YO).

Family time on the morning of the funeral, please. Funeral Mass in St Michael’s Church, Creeslough, on Saturday at 11am. Burial afterwards in Doe Graveyard.

Noreen Catterson, Castlefinn

The sudden death has occurred of Noreen Catterson (née Doherty) of Grahamsland, Castlefinn, formerly from Shantallow, Derry. 

Beloved wife of Ignatius (Tara) and much loved mother of Darren (Deborah) and Senan and dear sister of James and Teresa Healy.

Reposing at her late residence at Grahamsland, Castlefinn.

Funeral from there on Sunday at 1.30pm going to St.Mary’s Church, Castlefinn ​​​​for Requiem Mass at 2pm. Burial immediately afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband, sons, daughter-in-law, brother, sister, nieces, nephews and wider family circle. 

Sally Boyce, Falcarragh

The death has occurred in the Donegal Hospice of Sally Boyce (née Curran) Ballina, Falcarragh.

Beloved wife of Kevin and mother to PJ, Kevin, Sarah, Martin and Amy (Rose), dear sister of Roisín, Owen, Donal and Joe.

Deeply regretted by her nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours. 

Her remains are reposing at her residence. Family time on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral from there on Saturday going to St Finian’s Church Falcarragh for 11am Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Joseph Birkett, Clonmany

The death has taken place at Letterkenny University Hospital of Joseph William Birkett (Joe), Corner Cash, Straid, Clonmany.

Beloved husband of Mary and much-loved father of Caroline and Ken. Dear brother of Dot, Pat, Polly, Alan, Pete and Charlie.

Deeply regretted by his grandchildren Tamara, Karelina, Chyvonne and Nicole, his daughter-in-law, son-in-law, the McDermott family, the Clafferty family, his extended family, friends and neighbours. 

Remains reposing at his late residence.

Funeral from there on Sunday, December 29 at 1.30pm to St. Mary’s Church, Clonmany for 2pm Requiem Mass, followed by burial in St. Michael’s Church graveyard, Urris.

Lexie Ross, Carrigans

The death has occurred in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin of Lexie Ross, 133 Dunmore, Carrigans.

Lexie will be lovingly missed by his wife Anne, son Martin (Bronagh), daughters Ciara (Lee), Laura (Liam) and Una, grandchildren Charlie, Sam, Niamh and Iarlaith, brothers Eamon and Liam and sister Celine, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and all his extended family and friends. 

Lexie was predeceased by his parents Mary and Willie and sister May. 

Lexie is reposing at his late residence. Family time on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral cortege will be leaving his late residence on Saturday morning, December 28 at 10.20am going to St. Baithin’s Church, St Johnston for 11am Requiem Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Bernard Rutherford, Carndonagh

The peaceful death has taken place at his home of Bernard Rutherford, The Park, Ballyloskey, Carndonagh and formerly Ballybofey and Convoy. 

Beloved husband of Rose and much-loved father of Amanda and Paul and dear brother of Pat.

Deeply regretted by his son, daughter, brother, his grandchildren Karlann, Kealan, Daisy, Kauri and Willow, his daughter-in-law Hilary, his extended family, friends and neighbours. 

His remains are reposing at his late residence where all are welcome to pay their respects. 

Funeral from there on Saturday, December 28 at 10.20am going to Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh for 11am Requiem Mass followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Kathleen Crilly, Derry and Clonmany

The death has taken place peacefully at her home of Kathleen Crilly (née Duffy), 53 Messines Park, Derry and Clonmany.

Beloved wife of the late Laurence, much loved mother of Geraldine, Patricia, Nuala, John and Elaine and mother-in-law of Billy, Dominic, Sonya and Ken.

Devoted grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, dearest sister of Michael and the late Bernadette and Eamon and sister-in-law of Kathy, Margaret and Patrick.

Reposing at the family home.

Funeral from there on Saturday at 11.30am for Requiem Mass at 12 noon in St. Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery, Derry. The Mass can be viewed via the parish webcam. 

Family time please from 11pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral.  

Alicia Curran, Killybegs and Tipperary

The death has taken place of Alicia Curran (née Hogan) of The Old Rectory, Killybegs, and Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

Beloved wife of the late Dr. Frank, she will be sadly missed by Cathie, Chris, Louis, Karl, John and Hugh, her brother Frank, her grandchildren Annalivia, Clara Rose, Olivia, Coco, Lucy, Charlie, Lela, Amabel, Milo, Aoibhínn and Odhrán, daughters-in-law Jessica, Claudia, Breena and Susie, son-in-law Vincent, nephews and nieces, sisters-in-law Fran, Maura and Margaret, brothers-in-law Daniel, John and Neil, relatives, neighbours and many friends. 

Reposing at her home in Killybegs.

Requiem Mass on Saturday in St. Mary’s Church, Killybegs, at 11am followed by a private cremation. 

Donations in lieu of flowers to the Irish Cancer Society.

Joseph Houston, Cloghan and England

The death has occurred of Joseph Houston, Lettershanbo, Cloghan and formerly Lettershanbo, Cloghan. 

He died peacefully at his home in Birmingham, England in his 100th year. 

Beloved husband of the late Mary, much loved father to Angela, (James) Caroline (Craig) and John (Helen). 

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his son, daughter, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, nephews, nieces in Ireland and England, (Mc Cool family, Hone family, Houston family) extended family and friends. 

Joe’s Requiem Mass will take place on Monday, January 13 at 11am in the Church of St. Joseph and St. Helen, Kings Norton, with interment in St. Nicholas Churchyard, Kings Norton. The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Webcam at https://www.youtube.com/@ssjosephandhelen.
