Frank Gordon, Lucan, Dublin and Castlefinn 

 

Karen Connolly, Sligo and Bundoran

The death has occurred of Karen Connolly (née Johes), Castlegal, Co. Sligo and formerly of Drumacrin Ave, Bundoran. 

She died on Friday, unexpectedly at home. 

Beloved mother of the late Rachel and daughter of the late George and Sarah Jones. Karen will be forever loved and sadly missed by her heartbroken husband, Bernard, her son, daughters, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and all her relatives, neighbours and friends. 

Funeral arrangements later.  

Patsy Duffy, Stranorlar 

The death has occurred of Patsy Duffy, 16 Ard McCool, Stranorlar, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Beloved husband of the late Christina (Tene), much loved father of Connie (Eibhlin), Pearl, Siobhán (Joey), Elaine (Leslie) and Pauric (Patricia) and devoted grandfather of Mark, Jack, Ben, Gavin, Lauren, Devin, Ella and special mention to Daire, who is currently in Melbourne. 

Brother of Jim (Carmel) and the late Josie, George (Maura), Ben, Sally (Joe) and Maureen (Aidan). He will also be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Remains reposing at McCool’s Chapel of Rest, Ballybofey on Sunday from 6pm to 9pm and Monday from 6pm to 9pm. 

Funeral leaving from McCool’s Chapel of Rest on Tuesday at 10.30am for Requiem Mass in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar at 11am. Interment in Drumboe cemetery.

Eamonn Harrington, Lurganboy and Tuam, Galway

The death has occurred of Eamonn Harrington, late of Lurganboy, and Bishop Street, Tuam, Galway.

Predeceased by his daughter Ava and his parents Frank and Maura. 

Sadly missed by his brothers Padraig (Dunmore) and John (Boston), sisters Carmel Monaghan (New Zealand), Anne Mullahy (Milltown), Frances Quinn (Tuam) and Siobhan Harrington (Tuam), Ava’s mam Ger, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Eamonn will be reposing at Grogan’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Tuam (H54 Y677) on Monday from 6pm. Removal at 8pm to the Cathedral of the Assumption. 

Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 11.30am followed by Cremation Service in Shannon Crematorium at 2pm.

No flowers please. Donations, if desired, to Tuam Cancer Care. 

Dr Michael O’Dowd, Milford

The death has occurred of Dr Michael O’Dowd, Tirhomin, Milford and South Africa (late of Bandon and College Road, Cork).

He died on Thursday, peacefully in the care of the Marlay Nursing Home, Rathfarnham. 

Predeceased by his loving wife, Carmel. Deeply regretted by his daughter Niamh, son Desmond; daughter-in-law Lisa, son-in-law Ryan; grandchildren Oscar, Tara, Ruby, Oran and Art; his sister Teresa; brothers-in-law John and Gearóid, sisters-in-law Gay, Sheila, Deirdre and Gerry; nieces and nephews, extended family and a wide circle of friends. 

Reposing in Fanagan’s Funeral Home, Dundrum on Monday evening from 6pm to 8pm. 

Removal on Tuesday afternoon, January 28 to Dardistown Crematorium for a Service at 2.30pm, which can be viewed live on this link https://www.dctrust.ie/location/dardistown/dardistown-chapel-webstreaming.html

Philip McCafferty, Letterkenny and Clydebank

The death has occurred at Brinley Manor Nursing Home, Convoy, of Philip McCafferty, Letterkenny and formerly of Clydebank, Scotland.

Philip’s remains have been removed to his native Clydebank for cremation at a date to be confirmed.

Predeceased by his parents Annie and Lawrance and deeply regretted by his brothers Jimmy and John, sisters Kathleen Dougal, Maureen Tease, Annmarie Duddy, Teresa McCafferty, extended family and many friends. 

John Friel, Strabane and formerly Lifford

The death has taken place at Altnagelvin Hospital of John Friel, 50 Carrick Strand, Strabane, and formerly of The Gort, Lifford.

Beloved husband of Philomena, much loved father of Ian and Darren, father-in-law of Cara, dearly loved grandfather of Ali and Adam and brother of Charlie, Tony and the late Patsy, Martin, Aidan, Kathleen, Angela, Myra, Grace and Eileen.

Reposing at his home. Funeral leaving there on Sunday at 12 noon for Mass in St Mary`s Church, Melmount at 12.30pm.

Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family time please from 10pm until 11am.

Edmund Meehan, Raphoe

The death has occurred in the Donegal Hospice, surrounded by his loving family, of Edmund Meehan, Ballyholey Far, Raphoe.

Lovingly missed by his wife Anna, daughters and sons Frances (Jim McGlynn), Pat (John Mulligan), Edna (Paddy Doherty), Jacquline Doherty, Neil (Mary), Edmund, Susanna (Kevin Kennedy), Denise (Damir Knezovic), Annamarie, 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and all his extended family and friends. 

Edmund will be reposing at his late residence on Saturday from 12pm to 9pm.

Rosary at 9pm.

Family time please on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral cortege will be leaving his late residence on Sunday morning at 10.20am going to St. Eunan’s Church, Raphoe for 11am Requiem mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Noel Christopher McFadden, Falcarragh and Norway

The death has occurred of Noel Christopher McFadden, Falcarragh.

He died peacefully on January 15 in Oslo, Norway.

Predeceased by his father Hugh, mother Margaret and his wife Eva (née Bjornstad). 

Noel will be very sadly missed by his daughter Lisa, sons Kevin and Daniel, grandchildren William, Oscar and Colin, daughter-in-law Sandra, brother Hugh, sisters Marie and Ann, sister-in-law Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Funeral to be held in Oslo, Norway on Tuesday, January 28.

Anne McLaughlin, Dublin and Dungloe

The death has taken place of Anne McLaughlin (née Gallagher), Whitehall, Dublin and formerly of Dungloe.

She died on Thursday, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the Mater Hospital. 

Beloved wife of the late Daniel and loving mum to Kathleen, Daniel, James, Liam, Paul, Annette, Marian and the late Breda. Sadly missed by her family, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sister Rosie, brother James and all her extended family, friends and neighbours.  

Reposing in Lanigan’s Funeral Home, 21 Beaumont Road on Tuesday, January 28 from 3pm to 5pm. 

Removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of the Holy Child, Whitehall arriving for Funeral Mass at 11.30am. 

Burial afterwards in Dardistown Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired to the Mater Hospital Foundation.

Frank Gordon, Lucan, Dublin and Castlefinn

The death has taken place of Frank Gordon, Lucan, Co. Dublin, formerly of Castlefinn, and ex-An Garda Síochana.

He died on Friday, peacefully, surrounded by his family at St. James Hospital.

Beloved husband of the late Ann, much-loved father of Ian, Kieran and Anna and devoted grandfather of Mia, Finn, Éanan, Aobh, Annie and Laoise.

Sadly missed by his loving sons, daughter, grandchildren, daughters-in-law Gwenn and Caoimhe, son-in-law Sean, brothers Noel, Gabriel and John, sisters Anne, Breidge, Goretti and Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents Susan and Charles and brothers PJ and Plunkett.

Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Lucan on Monday evening from 5pm to 7pm.

Removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Esker, Lucan on Tuesday morning, January 28 arriving for Requiem Mass at 10am followed by burial in Esker Cemetery, Lucan.
