The death has taken place, January 18, at Melmount Manor of Dr Frank Friel, late of 34 Ballycolman Road, Strabane and formerly of Cardonagh.

Beloved husband of Benigna (Ben), much loved father of Karen, Frank and Tona, dearly loved grandfather of James, Lucy, Molly, Sophia, Daragh, Cara and Tom and brother of Joan, Helen, Rosemary and the late Anne, Myra and Denis.

Reposing at his daughter Karen Coyle’s home, 17 Carrigullin Road, Strabane (BT82 8PA) today from 5pm to 9pm and on Tuesday, January 20 from 5pm to 9 pm.

Funeral leaving his daughter’s home, on Wednesday, January 21, at 11.20am for requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Melmount at 12 noon.

Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by his sorrowing son, daughters, grandchildren, sisters and family circle.

Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.

Mary McHugh, Donegal Town and Galway

The death has occurred of Mary McHugh (née Marmion), Drimark, Donegal Town and formerly of Barrack Street, Loughrea, Co Galway.

Ms McHugh passed away peacefully at The Sheil District Hospital, Ballyshannon, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 18.

Sadly missed by her son Greg (Linda) daughter Maria (Billy), grandchildren, William, John, Eimear and Ciara, brother Lexi, nieces, nephews extended family, neighbours and friends.

Mary’s remains will repose in Tír Conaíll Funeral Home, Drumrooske, Donegal Town, F94 FX3A today from 2pm until 9pm.

Funeral Mass in St Mary’s Church, Killymard at 11am on Tuesday, January 20 to reside overnight followed by private cremation on Wednesday, January 21 in Lakelands Funeral Home and Crematorium, Cavan at 2pm.

Family flowers only.

Phyllis McGrath, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Phyllis McGrath (née Copeland), Ardnagreine, Bundoran Road, Ballyshannon.

Ms McGrath passed away peacefully, in her 97th year, in the gentle and exceptional care of the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Northwest Hospice, Sligo, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 18.

Predeceased by her husband Mick, sisters Sadie and Peggy, brothers George and Frank.

Sadly missed by children Pat (Mary), Mick (Liz), Eamonn (Geraldine), Jim (Patricia), Alice Shields (Brian), Claire Foody (Joe), Joan, Maura Schumacker (Laurent), grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister in law Kathleen, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

Reposing at her late residence today and tomorrow, Tuesday, January 20 from 3 pm to 8 pm.

Removal from her late residence on Wednesday, January 21 at 10.45am to arrive at St. Joseph’s Church, The Rock, Ballyshannon for Mass of the Resurrection at 11.30am with service of interment in the adjoining cemetery.

House private to family outside of reposing times and on the morning of the funeral.

Parking will be available during the wake at the Erneside Business park on the Bundoran Road.

Brigid Gaskin, Meath and Ardara

The death has occurred of Brigid Gaskin (née O’Byrne), Cherryhill Green, Kells, Meath and formerly of Ardara, Donegal and Luton, Manchester and Folkestone, UK.

Brigid (Bridgeen) passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of St Joseph’s Nursing Home, Virginia Co Cavan at the age of 90 after a long and full life.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Tony, her parents Christopher and Mary, her brother Fr Micheál and her sister Evelyn.

She is mourned by her son Tony (Shrewsbury), daughter-in-law Fliss and grandchildren Jess and Rosa.

Sadly missed by her brother Chris and sisters Sr Marie Celine and Sara, and her many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Fondly remembered by her many friends in Ireland, England and Spain.

Reposing at McEntee’s Funeral Home, Kells (A82 K0D7) on Wednesday evening, January 21 from 6 pm to 7 pm followed by removal to St Colmcille’s Church arriving at 7.30.

Funeral Mass on Thursday morning at 11 am followed by cremation and burial of ashes at a later date.

James Oliver Boyle, Gaveross, Glencolmcille

The death has occurred of James Oliver Boyle, Garveross, Glencolmcille, peacefully at Letterkenny University Hospital today, Sunday, January 18.

Predeceased by his brothers John, Peter Leo and Eamonn and baby sister Mary Ellen and niece Mary McGovern (nee Boyle) and extended family.

He will be sadly missed by his twin sister Noreen O’Leary. Niece Noreen Kennedy, Nephews Johnny Boyle, Jeremy O’Leary and all extended family.

Remains reposing at his late residence today from 1pm until rosary at 9pm.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 20 at 2pm in St Columba’s Church, Cashel, Glencolmcille with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Annie Gallagher, Bruckless

The peaceful death has occurred of Annie Gallagher (nee Bonner) Bruckless and formerly of Glenties in the caring hands of the staff at The Harbour Lights Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents Margaret and Edward Bonner, her twin brother Eddie, brother Cornelius and infant Eugene.

Sadly missed by her beloved husband Danny, her sons Donal (Marguerite), Dermot (Rosie), daughters Annmarie (Daniel), Carmel (John), Joanne (Paul), Marguerite (Derek), her adoring grandchildren, brother in law, Willie, sisters in law, Bernadette and Anne, her extended family, neighbours and friends.

Remains reposing at Shovlin‘s Funeral Home today from 2 pm to 7pm, followed by removal to her family home at Bruckless.

Fr Seamus Meehan, Dungloe and Falcarragh

The peaceful death has taken place in Dungloe Community Hospital of Fr Seamus Meehan, former Parish Priest of Templecrone Parish.

Predeceased by his brother, Sean, sisters, Nora and Kathleen.

Sadly missed by his nieces, Carmel, Lorna, and Kathryn and nephews, James and Pauric and all his cousins.

His remains will repose in McGlynn’s Funeral Home, Dungloe, F94ND68, today from 3pm with removal to St Crona’s Church Dungloe for 6pm.

Rosary will take place in the church at 8pm this evening.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon with interment in Maghery Cemetery.

Felim Quinn, Ballybofey

The death has occurred of Felim Patrick Quinn, Donegal Street, Ballybofey.

Beloved son of the late Paddy and Maureen, dearly loved father to Leanán, much loved brother of Deirdre, Grainne, and the late Cormac.

Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by his son, sisters, nieces, Caoimhne, Darseigh, nephew Cahán, extended family, and friends.

Reposing at the family home in Donegal Street today from 6pm to 9pm and on Tuesday from 12 noon to 9pm. Rosary both nights at 9pm.

Funeral leaving from there on Wednesday, January 21 at 10.30am for requiem Mass at 11am in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar. Interment afterwards in Drumboe Cemetery.

Sr Catherine McMorrow, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Sister Catherine McMorrow, Convent of Mercy, Ballyshannon and Manorhamilton, and formerly Ballinaglera, Co Leitrim.

Sadly missed by the Sisters of Mercy Community, Ballyshannon, and the wider Mercy Community of the Northern Branch, her brother-in-law, Pauric, her nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and her many friends and colleagues.

Reposing at St Catherine’s Convent of Mercy, College Street, Ballyshannon, F94 D309, today from 4pm until 7pm.

Leaving Ballyshannon at 7.15pm to be received at St Clare’s Church, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim at 8pm.

Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday at 11.30am, with service of interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Michael McBrearty, Inver

The death has occurred of Michael McBrearty, Castleogary, Inver.

He passed away peacefully on January 2, aged 82, surrounded by his loving family.

Husband, loving and adored dad to Julie, Michelle, Paul, Jacqui and Chris, dear father-in-law.

Much loved grandad/grandpa to Michael, Aidan, Lucy, Alanna, Evan, Matthew, Evelyn, Harriet, Leah, Conor and Erin.

Reception into Christ the King Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 4 at 6pm.

Requiem Mass to take place on Thursday, February 5 at 10.30am.

Burial will take place at Canley Crematorium, Coventry.

Christy McGinley, Raphoe

The peaceful death took place on Friday at Letterkenny University Hospital of Christy McGinley, 1A St Eunan’s Terrace, Raphoe.

Deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, cousins and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours.

Christy is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Jane, sisters, Marion O’Donnell and Celine Sweeney and his brothers, Paddy and Charlie.

Requiem Mass in St Eunan’s Church, Raphoe this morning at 11am with interment afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

Gilbert Browne, Lanzarote and Inch Island

The peaceful death has taken place in Lanzarote of Gilbert Brown, The Spinnaker Bar, formerly of Grange, Inch Island F93 CF74.

Predeceased by his cherished wife Hazel.

Deeply saddened by his passing are sons, Steven (Angela), Garrett (Philippa), Raymond (Siran) and daughter, Nicola.

Gilbert will be lovingly remembered by his cherished grandchildren, Connor, Emma, Ruby and Coral, sisters and sister and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours and wider family circle.

Gilbert is reposing at his late residence, Grange, Inch where all are welcome to come and pay their respects.

Funeral cortege leaving there this morning at 11am travelling to Christ Church, Buncrana for Funeral Service at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

The death has taken place of Beesie Rodgers (Bridget), née McDyer, of Derries, Glenties, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her son, John Plunkett, who passed away in infancy, her sister, Nan, brother-in-law, Packie Boyle, and nephew, Packie Boyle.

Beloved wife of John, cherished mother to Philip, Mary (Pat), Noreen (Kieran) and Martina (Pat) and adoring grandmother to David, Denise, Shaun, Martin, Jack, Cian, Sorcha and Matthew.

The death has taken place in Buncrana Community Hospital of Billy Coyle, Castle Ave, Buncrana.

Predeceased by his wife, Eileen and parents, William and Teresa RIP.

Dear father of Susie (Jas), brother of Maureen and Teresa, brother-in-law of Sean (Imelda RIP) and sadly missed by his family and life-long friends.

Remains will be reposing at his residence.

Funeral from there on Tuesday at 9.20am going to St Mary’s Oratory, Buncrana for 10am requiem Mass, with burial afterwards in Cockhill Cemetery.

Sheila Coll, Dublin and Falcarragh

The death has taken place of Sheila Coll (née McNulty).

Sheila (Swords, Co. Dublin and formerly of London and Falcarragh), died on Friday, January 16, peacefully at Swords Nursing Home.

Beloved wife of the late Don.

Sadly missed by her loving daughters, Caroline and Michelle, son-in-law Noel, grandchildren, Siobhan and Liam, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Removal on Wednesday, January 21 to St Cronan’s Church, Brackenstown arriving for 10am Mass followed by funeral to Dardistown Crematorium.

Helen McLoughlin, Edinburgh and Bundoran

The tragic death has taken place at her home of Helen McLoughlin, South Lome Place, Edinburgh on September 22, 2025.

Helen was the daughter of the late Patrick and Kathleen McLoughlin. Her loss is deeply regretted by her brothers, Enda and Donal, relatives and friends.

She will be missed terribly by those who knew her, may her gentle soul rest in peace.

The scattering of Helen’s ashes will take place at Dowie’s Mill Lane, Cramond Bridge, Edinburgh at 11am on Saturday, January 24 to which family and friends are invited.

Refreshments afterwards in the Bow Bar, 80 West Bow, Edinburgh, EH1 2HH.

Sean Whyte, Cork and Donegal

The death has taken place of Sean Whyte, on January 14, peacefully, at Marymount.

Sean, much loved husband of Sheila, adored dad of Killian and Ronan, dear brother of Patrick, Fidelis and Concepta, predeceased by his parents Brendan and Peggy.

Sadly missed by his wife and family, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Requiem Mass at 11am today in St Columba’s Church, Douglas.

Funeral afterwards to St John’s Cemetery, Ballinrea.
