Bridget Giannakopoulos, Greece and Rosbeg

The death has taken place of Bridget Giannakopoulos (nee Johnston) in Athens, Greece, aged 86 (formerly Rosbeg, Donegal) on July 14.

She will be sadly missed by her two sisters, Noeline Furey and Ita Prokos, sisters-in-law Marian, Mena, Maria, and Katina, brothers-in-law Mickey and William, Godson Nick Prokos, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, god children, and extended family and friends.

She is being repatriated back home to Ireland.

Reposing at Shovlin’s Funeral Home, Ardara on Saturday, July 26 from 3pm to 4.30pm.

Departing 4.45pm and travelling via Pier House, Rosbeg to be received into St Conal’s Church, Kilclooney at 5.45 to repose overnight.

Funeral Mass will take place at 9.30am, on Sunday, July 27, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

All welcome afterwards at The Dolmen Centre, Kilclooney, for refreshments.

Family flowers only.

Donations can be made to St Conal’s Church or Irish Cancer Society, c/o any family member.

May Henderson, Ramelton

The peaceful death has taken place in the Donegal Hospice of May Henderson (née Friel), Ballyare, Ramelton, F92 P9P1.

Deeply regretted by her loving family, Josie, Anne, Rose (Matt), Patricia (Hugh), Kathleen (Gerard), Valerie (Andrew), and Marie, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers Alex and Brendan, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Predeceased by her husband Bobby, daughter Margaret, daughter-in-law Rita, grandson Christopher, brothers Billy, Mick, Patsy, and Oliver, sisters Jeanie and Kathleen.

Reposing at her home from 5pm today, Friday, July 25.

Funeral mass on Sunday, July 27 at 11am in St Peter’s Church, Milford.

Burial afterwards in Milford Cemetery.

Clair Whoriskey, Letterkenny

The death has occurred of Clair Whoriskey, 79 Meadow Bank, Letterkenny.

Ms Whoriskey passed away at the Donegal Hospice surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, July 23.

Clair will be sadly missed by her loving family, partner Thomas, parents Bridie and Frank Whoriskey, sister Frances, brother-in-law Raymond Coyle, niece Aoibheann and nephews Matthew and Ben.

Clair will repose at her parents’ home 7 College Park, Letterkenny F92 V2N6.

House private from 10pm to 10am and on the morning of the funeral.

Requiem Mass on Saturday, July 26 at 11am in St Eunan’s Cathedral with burial afterwards at New Leck Cemetery.

Donations in lieu of flowers to the Donegal Hospice, care of Bradley O’Doherty Funeral Directors or any family member.

Edward Gallagher, Dublin and Gortahork

The death has occurred of Edward Gallagher, Perrystown, Dublin and formerly Gortahork, Donegal.

Mr Gallagher passed away peacefully at home in Vincennes, France.

Beloved husband of the late Bridget and loving dad of Anthony; sadly missed by his loving son, daughter-in-law Murielle, grandchildren Caitlín, Órla and Ciara, brother Joe and sister, Madge, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, former colleagues and many friends.

JJ Doherty, Monaghan and Ballybofey

The death has occurred of JJ Doherty, Ballybay, Monaghan and formerly of Sessiaghoneill, Ballybofey.

Mr Doherty, who worked with the Department of Agriculture, passed away peacefully at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin on Wednesday, July 23.

Predeceased by his parents Andy and Pat.

JJ is deeply regretted and remembered with love by his family, son Stephen, partner Amy and Stephen’s mother Collette, sisters Patricia, Maeve, Pauline, Tess, Bernadine and Ursula, brother Drew, brothers in-law, sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

JJ will repose at Wards Funeral Home, Ballybay, Co Monaghan (A75H585) today, Friday from 3pm until 8pm.

Reposing in the family home in Sessiaghoneill, Ballybofey, Co Donegal (F93X97V) on Saturday afternoon from 2pm until rosary at 9pm.

Removal on Sunday morning from the residence at 10.40am (proceeding on foot) to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Sessiaghoneill for funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Bridie Porter (née Connaghan), Bridgend

The death has occurred of Bridie Porter (née Connaghan), 279 Skeoge Cottages, Bridgend.

Ms Porter passed away peacefully in the Donegal Hospice surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 22.

Predeceased by loving husband John, parents John and Margaret Connaghan (Gartan, Churchill) grandchildren Aisling, Charlie and Ameera, brothers John and Willie, sisters Gracie, Margaret and Frances.

Loving mother of Leo (Linda), Shaun (Noeleen), Mairead, Eileen (Brendan), Liam (Marie), Noreen (Danny), Frances (Andrew), Katrina (Paul), Martina (Shaun), Raymond (Teresa), Declan, Eamonn (Martina), Siobhan (Feargal), Clare (Damian) and Priscilla (Joe).

Deeply regretted by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family members and friends.

Bridie remains will be reposing at her late residence.

Funeral from there on Friday morning, July 25 for requiem Mass at 11am in St. Aengus Church Burt, followed by interment in Burt cemetery.

Family time from 11pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral.

James (Séamus) McLoone, Galway and Glenties

The death has occurred of James (Séamus) McLoone, Aughnacurra and formerly of Renmore, Galway and Glenties, Donegal.

Mr McLoone passed away peacefully at home, with his much-loved family, by his side on Monday, July 21.

Mourned and sadly missed by his sister Nábla McCarthy, brothers Patrick, Donal, Hugh and Fr Francis, brother-in-law Pat, sisters-in-law Kathleen, Ethna, Mary and Mairéad, friend Máire O’Leary, his nieces and nephews, devoted carers, the extended family and retired colleagues from the Brothers of Charity Services and University of Galway.

Predeceased by his parents John and Bella, brother John, sister Eileen and her husband Jim Loftus.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for James (Séamus) today at 12 noon in the Church of St. Oliver Plunkett, Renmore.

Following Mass, he will be laid to rest in Bushy Park cemetery adjacent to St. James’ Church. (H91 A5V2).

Charles McGee, Stranorlar

The death has occurred of Charles McGee, 38 Woodlawn, Stranorlar.

Mr McGee, who is a retired member of An Garda Síochána, passed peacefully after a long illness bravely borne, surrounded by his loving family, in the compassionate care of the staff in Donegal Hospice on Wednesday, July 23.

Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Conneely), much loved father to sons John, (Julie), Cathal (Clodagh), Joseph (Maria), daughters Pamela (Mark), Moira (Derek), cherished brother of James, Micheal, Hudie.

Dearly loved grandfather to Hannah, Órlaith, Sophie, Ruby, Noah, Poppy, Aaron, Louis, Luke, Adam, Ollie and Conor.

Predeceased by his parents John, and Theresa, sister Bella and grandson Niall. Deeply regretted and lovingly remembered by his, wife, sons, daughters, brothers, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family and many friends.

Funeral leaving from his late residence on Friday, July 25 at 10.30 am, for Requiem Mass in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar at 11am.

Interment in Drumboe cemetery.

Morgan Downey, Limerick and Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Morgan Downey, Mill Road, Ballyclough, Limerick and formerly of Higginstown, Ballyshannon.

Mr Downey passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 23.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Stella, sons Ambrose, Morgan, Ivor and Michael, daughters-in-law Michaela, Sylvia and Bríd, adored grandchildren Ronan, Christian, Ciara, Aisling, Éabha, Shane, Oscar, Aoife, Tom, Ambrose and Morgan, by his brothers Michael, John, Ambrose and Fergus, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate on Friday, July 25 from 4.30pm to 6pm.

Funeral arriving at Donoughmore Church, on Saturday, July 26 for Requiem Mass at 11am.

Burial afterwards in Castlemungret Cemetery, Mungret.
