Death has taken place of noted former St Eunan’s College teacher Hugh Duffy

THE sudden death of Mr Hugh Duffy, 3 College Row, Letterkenny, in the Blackrock Clinic on Monday evening was learned of with great sadness.

A native of Galway, Hugh (85) came to Letterkenny to work in St Eunan’s College where he taught Latin and History.

His remains are reposing at his home todmorrow and Thursday with funeral Mass in St Eunan’s Cathedral at 11am on St Stephen’s Day with burial afterwards in Conwal Cemetery.

Hugh was proud of his garden which won many prizes in the annual Letterkenny Tidy Towns awards. He was also a bee-keeper, a member of the Board of Management at St Bernadette’s School while he also took a great interest in the ongoing development of Letterkenny town.

He is survived by his wife Elaine, nee Nugent, sons Dr Jarlath, a GP in Raphoe, and John, Dublin, daughters Mrs Paula Paratian (Ashley Close, Letterkenny) and Nicola (Dublin, daughter-in-law Marnie, son-in-law Raghavan, grandchildren, his sisters Monica Foran and Rev Sr Catherine, other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
