WORK on the new school building for Little Angels Special School will begin in two weeks. Boyle Construction is the main contractor.
The construction company, which is based at the Letterkenny Business Park, is set to begin work on Monday January 24.
The project will create a new 4,430 square metre single story special needs building, providing 20 special needs classrooms, along with a number of specialist educational, training, recreational and therapeutic rooms.
The build will also include toilets, other ancillary accommodation and all the necessary circulation space. The outdoor works will include 60 car parking spaces, a covered set down area and a variety of external hard-surfaced play spaces will be provided along with all associated siteworks for the development.
The school will be built on land between the Donegal Hospice and the Business Park Road, close to the current school building and is set to provide a more modern and spacious facility for staff and students. The build was expected to commence in the first quarter of 2021 but was delayed but officials are now hopeful that the project will be complete within 20 months of the start date.
A spokesperson for Boyle Construction said, “Boyle Construction are delighted to announce that we have been appointed as Main Contractor for the new Little Angels School in Letterkenny.
“We look forward to working with the project team McGarry Ni Eanaigh, Architects Taylor+Boyd, Semple & McKillop, Kane Crowe Kavanagh, MDE Installations and Quinn Downes Group.”
