DARRYL Moran from the Illies Golden Gloves will be in action on Friday next in a quarter-final at the European Youth Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.
Moran will meet either Niall Farrell of England or Ukraine’s Zhan Haspariants in one of the light-flyweight quarter-finals.
The Letterkenny IT studen, a five-time Irish champion, is part of a nine-man Irish team in Croatia and he received a bye in the weekend’s draw.
Moran defeated Stephen McKenna (Old School, Monaghan) to win the Irish Under-18 49kgs title and the diminutive Golden Gloves puncher will aim for a continental medal later this week.
