Dara McGuinness hits second half brace as Harps win

Finn Harps 4 Kerry 2

A second half brace from Dara McGuinness saw Finn Harps come from behind in the second half to defeat Kerry in Finn Park.

In his first game on the touch line, Kevin McHugh’s side took the lead after great work from Gavin Hodgins on the right to beat Sean O’Connell before being taken down in the box, and via the post, Hodgins fired into the bottom right corner.

But Kerry hit back from a corner poked in by Samuel Aladesanusi from a few yards out on the half an hour mark and five minutes later they went ahead through former Harps man Daniel Okwute for a half-time lead.

Ten minutes after the restart Max Hutchison levelled as he flicked on a Tony McNamee long throw.

And on the 70 minute mark, a quick release from ‘keeper David Aziaya found Dara McGuinness who got in behind his defender and was pulled down for another penalty.

The man who won it stepped up and he fired low to the left, sending former Harps ‘keeper Tim Hiemer the wrong way.

The Harps added a fifth in added time as McNamee dinked the ball into McGuinness on the right of the box and he took a touch before blasting low into the far corner to seal the three points and a first win since Kevin McHugh was appointed manager.
