MEMBERS of Danu Young Women’s Choir are celebrating an incredible weekend of musical success at the 34th Annual Convention of the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers (IABS), held at the INEC Gleneagle Arena, Killarney.
Two ensembles from the Danu community took home top national honours, showcasing the extraordinary talent and dedication of young singers from across Donegal.
The award-winning quartet Ceoltóirí Canóla competed in the prestigious International Quartet Contest, earning an impressive second place against strong competition from across Ireland and the UK.
Meanwhile, Comhcheoltóirí, a 16-member small chorus made up of young women from Danu, achieved a remarkable double victory.
They were crowned winners of the ‘Here to Harmonise’ Youth Chorus Contest and also named National Small Chorus Champions for 2025.
The annual IABS Convention is the highlight of Ireland’s barbershop calendar, drawing singers and ensembles from across the country and beyond for a weekend of competition, education, and celebration of close-harmony singing.
For Danu, which has grown steadily since its founding, the results mark another major milestone in the group’s development and reputation.
The choir continues to inspire young women across Donegal to find confidence, creativity, and connection through music.
