Daniel O’Donnell’s new Halloween single is out today

DANIEL O’Donnell fans will get to see his dark side when the video for his new Halloween single is revealed on Youtube and on the RTÉ Player at 3pm today.
‘Night of the Daniels’ is being billed as Donegal’s ‘Day of the Dead – a play on George A Romero’s 1985 post-apocalyptic zombie hit.
It sees a mysterious curse threaten the crooner’s home town.
As the plague takes hold it is up to the Kincasslagh man to spring into action and defeat the evil with the power of song.
The special effects-laden music video runs for almost six-minutes and was shot in Dungloe over a week in August.
Specially trained stunt personnel were drafted in for some of the more dangerous scenes while over 100 local residents turned out to help their famous neighbour put the nefarious and unwanted visitors to the sword.
Behind the cameras guiding Daniel through his heroics were Ciaran McCann and Shaun Doogan of Re-Act Productions.
Ahead of the video’s première Ciaran said Night of the Daniels was unlike anything the 60-year-old singer has done before.
Expect the craziest thing you have ever seen involving Daniel.
It is a complete departure from anything he has done before and it is going to blow the doors off in terms of expectation.
Daniel was so excited when he saw the finished video and according to his manager he was thrilled to get doing something so new and so different.”
Ciaran added that but for the generosity of the people of Dungloe, the fun project might never have happened.
It is amazing that we were able to do this at all but it could only have been done in Dungloe. The community got right in behind it and we received so much help and so many favours from the locals. We were very lucky in that respect.
Now it’s just a case of stay tuned and enjoy.”
It seems that adventure comes with age for Daniel O’Donnell.
He turned 60 in December, two months after donning a hula skirt and Hawaiian lei for his single ‘Down at the Lah De Dah’.
The light-hearted video showing him surfing waves, sipping cocktails and playing the ukulele went down a storm on social media.
