In a fitting final tribute to his sister, Daniel sang at Kathleen’s funeral mass, which was held in St Mary’s Church, Kincasslagh.

In a message on his own Facebook page, Daniel, on behalf of his family, thanked everyone who gave their support, sent mass cards, telephoned or comforted in any way.

“We, the family of the late Kathleen (Bosco) Doogan, wish to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us on the loss of a dear wife, mother, mother in law, grandmother, sister and aunt who died suddenly on Feb 3rd.

“Heartfelt thanks to those who provided our family with support during this sad and difficult time, to all who attended the wake or funeral and to those who sent mass or sympathy cards, phone calls, flowers and messages.

“Special thanks to The Cope and Supervalu in Dungloe Eamon Kelly at Celtic Hygiene and to all their friends and neighbours who brought food to the house and for looking after us during the wake, for just being there and for sharing our grief with us, especially when the news broke and we needed you most.

“Thanks to John Paul and Lee for helping with the parking, Fr Pat Ward for getting to the house so quickly that morning and for being a great support to us over the course of the wake and funeral.

“Thank you to Fr Aodhan Cannon, Fr Nigel Gallagher, Fr Brian D’Arcy and Fr John Joe Duffy for concelebrating the funeral mass with Fr Pat, to all those who took part in the funeral mass to make it a very special service.”

“Thanks also to Pat The Cope Gallagher for his assistance and a special thanks to the two guards who helped with traffic the morning of the funeral. Garda Peter McGee and Garda Marcus O Dowd.

“It’s impossible to thank everyone individually but please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude.”
