Daniel O’Donnell ready to pass torch to Jim McGuinness if Donegal wins All-Ireland

By Dionne Meehan

COUNTRY music sensation Daniel O’Donnell says he’s ready to hand over his title of ‘Donegal’s most loved man’ to Jim McGuinness if Donegal brings home the Sam Maguire Cup this Sunday.

In an interview with iRadio’s Dave and Fionnuala yesterday, the Kincasslagh man seemed unfazed when the question was posed.

Speaking to Daniel yesterday, Fionnuala said: “The county will certainly be on an unbelievable high and as you said, that belief has really been there since the start of the season.

“If Donegal claim Sam on Sunday are you prepared to do battle with Jim McGuiness or Michael Murphy for the title of Donegal’s most loved man?”

In response, Daniel said he’d give up the title in a heartbeat.

“If they can bring Sam to Donegal that is one title I will give up no bother,”

“I won’t even contest it.”
