Damaged water mains in Cranford and Milford area being replaced

DAMAGED water mains in the Cranford and Milford area are set to be replaced under Uisce Éireann’s Leakage Reduction Programme.

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Donegal County Council, is replacing approximately 2km of damaged water mains in Coole Upper that are prone to frequent bursts and leakage. The mains are being replaced with new modern pipes.

The works are due to commence in the coming days and are expected to be completed early next year. Once completed, the works will result in improved water supply with less disruption.

Commenting on the project Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, Patricia Lowry said: “This essential work is part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network in Milford, prioritising investment where it is needed most enabling communities to thrive.”

Patricia continued: “We understand that this type of work can cause inconvenience for the local community, but our crews will make every effort to minimise any disruptions.”

Works will take place along the R245 Carrigart Road junction to Coole Chapel and will be limited to short sections to minimise impact on customers. To deliver the works safely and efficiently, there will be some short-term local road closures and traffic management put in place during this time. The community will be notified of this in advance. Alternative routes will be available, and diversions will be clearly sign-posted. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

This project is being carried out by Farrans Construction on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
