Having just returned to the club after an eventful Milk Cup tournament last week, the Letterkenny man was on target in the second half as he sets about working his way into the plans of manager Graham Westley at the League Two outfit.

Stevenage named a young line-up with only Chris Day and Simon Walton offering experience in an XI containing four scholars, four trialists and Ryan Johnson and they fell behind on the hour when James Connolly picked up a cross from the left and had time to slot past Day.

However, Gorman secured a draw soon after when he latched onto a cross from the right-hand side and fired home from the edge of the box. It was a superb effort by the midfielder to get him off the mark just before he starts his second season at Broadhall Way.

Stevenage begin their League Two campaign on Saturday when they take on Hartlepool.

Demoted to League Two last season, Stevenage will bid to be among the contenders for a swift return into League One – and the Letterkenny man will aim to be in Westley’s plans.

Gorman signed from Letterkenny Rovers last summer and impressed while playing at the IMG Tournament in Florida in December.

Gorman played for the club’s youth and reserve teams last season and spent some time training with the first team during the second half of the season.

Last week Gorman was part of the Northern Ireland side that won the Elite title the Milk Cup. He hit worldwide news after sustaining a kick to the head in a game against Mexico when a mass brawl broke out towards the end of the fixture won by Northern Ireland 2-1. Gorman recovered and played as a sub in the final game, a 1-0 win over Canada on Friday in Coleraine.
