Donegal’s Daire Ó Baoill has been named as the GAA.ie Footballer of the Week
Daire Ó Baoill was outstanding in Donegal’s impressive ten point win over Derry at MacCumhaill Park on Sunday. The Gaoth Dobhair clubman drilled over a couple of brilliant two pointers and also added a vital goal for Jim McGuinness’ outfit.
The Donegal star received 3,694 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Cork’s Brian O’Driscoll (1,942) and Tipperary’s Steven O’Brien (1,141).
Ó Baoill was one of four Donegal men also named in the Team of the Week, along with captain Patrick McBrearty and St Eunan’s duo Ciaran Moore and Shaun Patton who impressed in the 1-25 to 1-15 win.
Kilcar man McBrearty kicked seven points, while Patton made a brilliant penalty save in the first half to deny Shane McGuigan and keep his side ahead.
Moore hit two points and set up the Ó Baoill goal as he had a fine game at both ends of the pitch.
