Curran proud of historic Rathmullan win

Rathmullan Celtic celebrate after winning the Milford Inn Donegal League Division 1 yesterday.

BY AIDAN O’DONNELL

RATHMULLAN Celtic joint-manager Mark Curran felt it was fitting that Eoin Sheridan was the one who grabbed the goal that made sure of their second league title in twelve months.

The midfielder came up with a priceless winner fifteen minutes from time in a nervy top of the table clash against St. Catherine’s yesterday as Rathmullan got the win that mathematically secured a second league crown on the bounce.

“Eoin is in there every week, never misses a training,” a proud Curran said afterwards.

“He’s one of the most dedicated players we have and for him to pop up and get the winner it’s absolutely brilliant for him and everyone associated with him because his granddad John Sheridan, who was a big member of Rathmullan down through the years, passed away this year.

“We spoke about that during the week and it was nice that it worked out the way it did. It’s a local side and as you can see here today the whole community has come out to support them.”

Jason Noctor had drawn St Catherine’s level after Dara Patton had opened the scoring – only for Sheridan to seal a precious win for the Seasiders.
