Cup delight for Kilmacrennan Celtic skipper Shields

RYAN Shields beamed with delight as he got his hands on the Brian McCormick Cup on Saturday evening.

A 2-0 win over Letterkenny Rovers courtesy of a strike in each half from Chris Dillon and Matthew McLaughlin put Gerard McGranaghan’s side in the history books.

Captain Shields held the trophy aloft after full-time with his teammates and said that he really couldn’t have asked for a better end to the season.

“This is massive, I don’t know how Kilmacrennan Celtic haven’t won that cup before,” he started.

“In years before and the team that we’ve had, it’s a mystery.

“It’s a privilege and an honour to win it because we have waited so many years and it really couldn’t be a better group of lads.”
