It’s all on the line today in Group C where Glenfin and Four Masters battle to see who joins Milford in the knockout stages.

Glenswilly are alive, but only just. However, the likelihood is that whoever prevails in Pairc Taobhoige at the weekend will be progressing.

A Masters victory, without a doubt, secures their passage. If Glenfin were to win and Glenswilly topple already qualified group winners Milford, both those sides would tie on three points.

But Glenswilly’s eleven-point hammering to Four Masters last week looks like scoring difference would cost them if that scenario arises.

Sean O’Kennedy netted a goal in that shock win for Pat Campbell’s outfit. He tells the Donegal News that it feels like a weight has been lifted in-and-around Tir Chonaill Park.

“Yeah – it was a huge result last week. We’ve had a really, really hard year. It’s been tough. We’d put ourselves in the situation we found ourselves in with relegation.

“It’s been difficult. You feel like you’ve let the club down and all the people that keep coming out to support us. The game against Glenswilly, it was a game we just decided to have some more belief in ourselves.

“The workrate has been there all year. But other wee things had been letting us down. A lot of days it was our finishing, being turned over or getting the ball away. Wee things like that.

“We trained really well last week. We felt good. There was an energy there. We threw it all at Glenswilly and we got that really big performance. It’s lifted everyone. There will be a much better atmosphere this week. But, ultimately, it’ll count for nothing if we don’t get the result now against Glenfin.”

“Glenswilly is over and the focus is completely now on Glenfin. They beat us well in the league. It’s a great ground. It’s like a natural amphitheatre.

“There’ll be a big crowd. The weather has picked up. It’s winner takes all. We’re really looking forward to it.”

Mark McGinty admits his side just didn’t perform against Milford last time out. But with their Championship aspirations still alive going into this final group encounter, and with home advantage with them, their fate is more or less still in their own hands.

“The Masters side we played in the league a few weeks ago and the Masters side coming to Glenfin at the weekend are totally different propositions.

“They’re a different animal completely. Their tails are well and truly up. They’re going to be very hard to beat. They’re a young side. They’ll bring great energy.

“They are seriously fit. One thing for sure is that Pat (Campbell) will have them fit. No one gave them a hope last week against Glenswilly. But they were completely convincing and they could have won by even more.

“It’s winner takes all. It’s the last game on Sunday evening so there’ll be a crowd. At training last night (Tuesday) we left the lads under no illusions. They know exactly what’s at stake on Sunday.”
