Crowds get ready for North West 10k

BY HARRY WALSH
THOUSANDS of fun runners and walkers are expected to take part in the annual North West Charity 10K Race and Fun Walk on Sunday afternoon.

With just two days to go to this year’s event, organisers are hopeful that more than 3,000 will finish the 6.4 mile course through the streets of Letterkenny to earn their t-shirts and raise money for three very worthy charities.

The North West 10K is an event which has prided itself on encouraging family participation since its inception in the early Eighties, and many mothers, accompanied by young children, will enjoy the walk.

Others, more competitive in their approach, will battle it out for overall supremacy and the honour of being first past the finishing post.

The most important aspect of the event however is the fact that through their participation the runners and walkers will raise much needed finance for the three charities who will benefit from the race – Buddy Bear Appeal, Donegal Down Syndrome Association and MS Ireland (Donegal Branch).

See the Donegal News on Monday for extensive pictorial coverage and results of the event. The race gets underway at 2pm.
