GERRY Crossan has previously managed adult teams in the United States of America and Japan, and this season he will take charge of his first senior team in Ireland.
Crossan has this week been named as the new manager of Swilly Rovers after Aaron Rogan’s ill-fated 39 day tenure in charge of the Ramelton men came to an end on Monday night.
The club have turned to their highly-respected underage coach to try and revitalise the team, and the Derry-based teacher says he will give the role his all.
“I’m the new permanent manager – well as permanent as any manager can be,” said Crossan, who will manage Swilly against Bonagee United on Sunday.
“The plan is to take the team to the end of the season and we will evaluate things then, like you would do with any team.
“I suppose long-term, I’ll be trying to stabilise and reinvigorate the senior team and stop the decline that has been going on for 18 months now.
“I will leave no stone unturned and will give 150% to the cause like I always have done, and we will try and bring some respectability back to the club.”
