GARDAI are expected to bring criminal charges against the drivers of two vehicles that were involved in separate fatal collisions in the Drumkeen area in recent months, it has emerged.

A garda spokesman confirmed to the Donegal News yesterday (Thursday) that files will be sent shortly to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The garda investigations relate to last month’s crash in Drumkeen which claimed the life of local man Shane Patton (18) and a single vehicle collision in nearby Ballinaglack in June in which Convoy man Stephen McElwaine (37) was killed.

The incident occurred at around midnight when his black Volkswagen Bora was exiting from a minor road opposite the filling station onto the main Letterkenny to Ballybofey road.

However, a black Toyota Celica travelling from Ballybofey to Letterkenny ploughed into the driver’s door of his car. He died the next day in Letterkenny General Hospital.
