A YOUNG Creeslough woman HAS been successfully elected as the new vice-president of the NUI Galway student Union.
20-year-old Catherine Breslin, a commerce and accountancy student in her final year at the university, took part in the college elections last week and was successfully deemed the new Education Officer and vice-president to the student body.
The daughter of Declan and Margaret Breslin,, Catherine says it was a busy week campaigning around campus and online but she is delighted to have been elected into the positions.
She takes up her new year-long post in July next.
Catherine said she put her ‘heart and soul’ into the election and was delighted when she topped the poll despite being ‘very nervous’ as the votes came in last Friday.
Her new role will see her work on behalf of the 18,000 students they represent at the NUI campus in Galway.
