THE people of Creeslough will be presented with the 2022 Donegal Person of the Year award at an event in Dublin this weekend.
The annual event organised by the Donegal Association in Dublin will take place tomorrow night in the Bonnington Hotel.
The gala ball will pay special tribute to the courage and community spirit of the people of Creeslough in the wake of the tragedy which claimed the lives of 10 people last October.
The entire country watched on and held Creeslough in their hearts, including the large Donegal diaspora living in Dublin.
The recognition is poignant as the Donegal Association in Dublin was founded as a result of a tragedy – The Arranmore Disaster, when 19 islanders lost their lives on the short sea journey home from Burtonport in November 1935.
Chairperson of the Donegal Association in Dublin, Kevin McFadden said, “I am delighted that the Donegal Association Dublin are presenting the 2022 Person of the Year award to the People of Creeslough, its people have shown the world the true meaning of community and are an example to us all.
“ We hope to honour the village, its people, its history and its future on the 15th of April in Dublin.”
