Cowan thrilled to be back after long lay-off

IT’S been a long road back to full fitness, but Finn Harps’ new vice-captain Keith Cowan is looking forward to getting stuck into tackles again in the League of Ireland tonight.

Cowan spent the whole of last season on the sidelines after suffering a horrific knee injury against St Patrick’s Athletic back in October 2016.

Harps certainly missed the presence of the towering defender and they were relegated down to the second tier.

It’s been a lonely and arduous journey towards recovery for Cowan, but he has battled his way back, and will be in the squad for Friday night’s opener with Drogheda United.

“It’s definitely good to be back,” said the affable Cowan.

“It was a long lay-off and it was difficult to watch (last year) and not be able to have the influence that I would have liked as a player.

“Ollie and the staff kept me involved as much as possible, and I was in doing my prehab and my rehab, but it’s definitely good to be back.”
