Cowan confirms Drogheda departure

Keith Cowan has confirmed that he will not be playing for Drogheda United in the League of Ireland Premier Division next season.

The Ramelton man caused somewhat of a surprise when he left the Irish League to join Drogheda before the start of the 2022 campaign.

However, the big defender went on to have a terrific season for the Drogs as they finished eighth in the league.

The experienced Cowan was very popular with the Drogheda fans, but he confirmed on Twitter that he won’t be playing for the Louth side next year.

“Short, but very sweet, is how i would describe my time.

“Unfortunately i will not be a Drog next season. It truly was one of my most enjoyable years in football. The people at the club, the players and Management have made my family & I feel so welcome from day 1.

To the fans, DIFFERENT CLASS, the atmosphere you guys created every week drove us to many great victories, and made it a special place to play. I have made some great friends in Drogheda and will remember the place and the people very fondly.”
