Courthouse ‘differ’ critical after Antrim crash

A YOUNG Northern Ireland man who is well known to motorsport enthusiasts in Donegal is fighting for his life following a serious car crash.

During the Donegal International Rally weekend, 2014, John Reid became an Internet sensation after a video of him ‘diffing’ his Toyota Twin Cam outside Letterkenny Courthouse on June 22 went viral.

Rally followers have been asked to say a prayer for the young man described as a “legend of the car scene”.

A popular facebook page for rally fans, ‘King of the Cone’ yesterday confirmed that John Reid had been involved in the accident.

“We would like everyone to take a minute and say a prayer for a legend of the car scene in Ireland.
“John Reid (or ‘go on John’ as he was known) was involved in a car accident in the early hours of this morning and is currently on life support. We send our prayers to John and his family at the difficult time.”

The PSNI are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the one-vehicle crash outside Ballymoney, County Antrim, which has left two people seriously injured.

The incident involving a blue Mitsubishi happened on the Kilraughts Road in the early hours of Sunday, at about 12.20am. Police confirmed that two men, both in their 20s, had been taken to hospital.
