ARRANMORE RNLI rescued two people cut off by the sea near Ardara on Wednesday night.
The alarm was raised by a concerned family member after the man and woman who were walking by Assarancagh waterfall had not returned.
The Irish Coast Guard helicopter was tasked from Sligo and Killybegs Coast Guard were also involved in the operation.
Once on scene at 10.50pm, two lifeboat crew members launched the inshore Y boat and a number of flares were set off to light up the search area.
The casualties who had been cut off by the tide were located and brought on to the smaller boat before being transferred to Arranmore’s all-weather Severn class lifeboat and transported to Burtonport.
Speaking following the call out, Jimmy Early, Arranmore RNLI Second Coxswain said: ‘Thankfully there was a good end result to this evening’s call out and we were only too happy to locate the casualties safe and well and bring them to Burtonport.’
This brings to 13 the number of call outs Arranmore RNLI has had in a month.
