Couple behind wedding app welcome increased numbers

A COUPLE behind a Donegal based wedding app have said the increase in guest numbers to 100 will offer some stability to the struggling wedding industry.
Laura Kavanagh and her partner Colin of Buncrana based wedding journal app ‘Be Our Guest’ work with couples from Ireland, the UK and world-wide using their wedding communications platform which allows couples to invite guests, interact with their venues and organise their wedding day using an app.
The pair are delighted with the increase in guest numbers and said it is a great boost for the entire wedding industry after an extremely difficult year.
Laura explained, “This is a very positive announcement because there has been so much uncertainty until now. A lot of our couples are on their third or fourth postponement because we did not expect the pandemic to last as long and couples have been forced to reorganise again and again.
“All of the suppliers are trying to be as positive as possible but it has been difficult because there is a sense of unknown especially with venues. This means we will have a bit of stability now, and that is just great. It has been a very tough time for the industry – we have seen it ourselves where our sales have dropped in the past year so we are looking forward to things returning to normal,” said Laura.
Clarity is still required around the finer details such as rules surrounding music, dancing, vaccinations, indoor and outdoor dining regulations but more information is set to released prior to August 5 when the new regulations will come into force.
Laura continued, “The finer details are still to be ironed out but hopefully that will be done soon.
“We have couples world-wide but many of our couples are from Ireland and the UK. We haven’t seen too many couples moving their weddings to the north but we have seen so many postponements and it has been very tough for couples. This announcement will give couples confidence to go ahead with their wedding and it is great news for both couples and suppliers alike,” said Laura.
