Results of Count 9: who’s in, who’s out and who’s still in contention?
At 16:35 on Sunday, two seats have been taken by two Sinn Fein candidates Pearse Doherty and Padraig MacLochlainn, with three still to play for.
Pat the Cope Gallagher has 10,680 votes and is still strongest to take the third seat, however he is still 2,091 votes away from the quota of 12,771. That leaves two further seats for the taking. The Cope’s running mate and outgoing T.D. Charlie McConalogue has 8,338 votes and is hoping to take the fourth and retain his seat, which would leave a battle between Charles Ward from the 100% Redress who is on 7,632 and Independent Thomas Pringle on 5825 for the final seat.
Further down the field and the candidates who still remain are: Noel Jordan from Sinn Fein (4,733 votes), Nikki Bradley (3,830 votes) and John McNulty from Fine Gael (3306 votes) , Mary T. Sweeney from Aontu (2808 votes) and Niall McConnell, Independent (2,156 votes).
Nuala Carr from the Green Party and Carol Gallagher were eliminated together on the 9th count and we currently await the distribution of their votes. Their votes of 707 and 931 combine to make a distribution of 1,638 votes.
It’s all about transfers now.
